A very original take on "call and response". In response to Frazer's vocal utterings Guthrie's overlayed guitars seem to echo away into the distance, giving an impression of a descending cavern or well. The impression of depth or perspective that is evoked, certainly in the context of a short Pop song, is both highly original and potently evocative. The chordal harmonies, together with exquisite timbres add drama and a whimsical, surreal impression that evokes a feeling of blissful contradiction. Neither flux nor stasis are achieved, suspension seems to be a more apt interepretation of the musicality of the song. Perhaps, one could envisage a meditative state of observation and reflection of and upon things, eliciting an emotional/physical response. Thank God they got an award, eventually!!

I read your intro. I find what is happening to be of a basic corporate nature: Artists that have disbanded are technically, no longer "a going concern"; without touring and new releases they make less money, so the record company loses interst in promoting them. Artists that changed record companies are probably enduring all sorts of buisness intereference, resulting in lesser access to earlier work. The industry needs a clean slate to influence the public with their most recent acts.
