@TwoBun When I reflect on almost turning 21 in 1985 and buying my first copy of "Echoes in a Shallow Bay", I am reminded of just how stunned I was to hear this track. I had never heard anything quite like it! Oh, I had fed myself on a regular musical diet of Joy Division, Bauhaus etc., but this!

This has been so stuck in my head for the past couple weeks. I wake up with it playing in my head,go to sleep the same way. Hum it all day long inbetween...I've got Cocteau on the brain.... . . .

cocteautwinned I've ended up with drug-induced Parkinsonism, so my thinking is often chaotic like a badly tuned radio. I got zapped by psychiatry and the Standard of Care, through a comedy of errors. I'm currently looking for a legal remedy or explanation.

TwoBun I can't blame drugs for the disarray that is my mind,(well maybe a little)but I get this completely. They still the chaos.Direct the flow.xo

@@TwoBun so sad. We are all inexorably trapped in a vile and immoral system. Mankind is doomed. It is only a short matter of time now.

Err yea. Lately I'm looking into Ancestry and reading some Colonial records. One thing is for certain, a Volcanic winter. There was a bad one in 1816, when Mary Shelly wrote Frankenstein. Mostly forgotten now though.@@waywardsylvan5085

Where the hell did they pull these magic melodies from?! This kind of genius could not just be random...its like they had a direct lifeline to god itself. I still marvel in awe after all these years.

Are you still there? I have yet to know someone who feels like this for Cocteau Twins.

I suppose it’s just a combination of raw talent and otherworldly celestial magic. As a mere mortal it’s hard to articulate or understand their level of genius, but at least we can but try

UPDATE: I forgot this was released 36 years ago today. If all this business still confounds you, I think this will help clear it up. This is not a song, it's a Call. This is not a singer, this is a Herald. I don't mean any of this figuratively or metaphorically. I grew up in a family of professional musicians and I've heard every kind of music there is in my half century on this earth and I've still never heard anything like this, or any number of other "songs" she's sung. This is how it is: she is the Sibyl of our Age and she has channeled invocations from forces outside our reality. And that is why impossible and/or earth-shaking syncs follow her around like a lost puppy. Whatever is behind this is going to rather extreme lengths to put that message across. You may want to consider that when you see what's going on outside your door this very moment. If you still don't get it, listen to this playlist every afternoon at sunset. If you're ready, you'll get a peek behind the Veil, guaranteed.

I have more bad days than good. Trying to get my brain to work like I need it too. Not my fault! ...There's a video on LiveLeak - Photos trapped in time. by Liza Trainer. It's a really well done photo collage story line. Some videos, I try to burn into my brain to help me with choices.

@TwoBun My peers at the time who enjoyed Rush, Journey, Reo Speedwagon, just thought me freakish for loving this! I had adored "Garlands" so this was much anticipated. I was at the time, struck by what I percieved as Celtic or Druidical wailings, without being aware of the bands "Caledonian" origins! After all these years it still holds up beautifully! Cheers!
