Heads up, if it looks like my lip-sync on the live-shots is a but gummy... well that's because it is. I've been doing a bit of work on my computer and had to rebuild my recording set up. My OBS isn't fully set yet, and I definitely destroyed a lot of the audio when recording. Destroy beyond use.. So I over-dubbed a lot of the live stuff. I am addicted to this game and am having a blast with it. I love the Souls games but I'm a sucker for anime rpgs and combining anime with Dark Souls type gameplay is right up my alley. It's not perfect but it's a blast and I will play a Code Vein 2 should they make one. Can't wait for the DLC. Thanks for the review.

I preferred Code Vein to a lot of the souls games.

Sometimes its good enough for a Souls-like to switch up the formula just enough to feel different to be enjoyable, even if it takes a bit more than it should.

I mainly bought it for the character customization. 😁

I was already a fan of the God Eater series, so I was really looking forward to Code Vein. I can strongly say without a doubt that Code Vein is definitely one of my favorite Soulsborne-like games. It's true that it has it's technical issues and some uninspired levels, but I really enjoyed the combat, the characters, story, and music. I especially love the incredible character customization, and have already made a lot of different characters. Code Vein is definitely a game I would play over and over again. Also Io is BEST WAIFU!!!😍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Every time I fired up Code Vein, that title screen theme always got me so pumped! "Fuck yeah Code Vein!" haha. Excellent review! Despite some of it's shortcomings I loved the game and would put it up right with the Souls games. I really hope they give this game a sequel.

I'm 6 hours in and yes it's nothing special, but still worth your time. I actually like this more than Dark Souls thanks to easier difficulty and more in your face story delivery.

Without having seen anything of this video/review I am very interested about the opinion of one of my (very few) favorite gaming KZfaqrs. I am playing this game for about a month now (admitted not very thoroughly) and I must say I LOVE it. The combination of SoulsBorne-gameplay mechanic, an interesting vampire tale with very likeable characters, a traditional anime-style graphics and more or less traditional JRPG elements hit me directly in my heart. I have to say I've played 26 hours now and I am roughly at the 40% mark of completing the game. So I have played the game (up until now) more intense than you. This maybe results in a even more positive attitude. 11:45 »The 'Arnor Londo' of Code Vein«: I laughed very hard at this point of your video because I had EXACTLY the same feeling at first. By playing through this area in »Code Vein« it changed because the area has a very different feeling to me. It's light flooded, it's a maze and I thought by myself »Man, this is how 'Arnor Londo' should have been«. A very very beautiful maze and I finally can get to all the places where 'Arnor Londo' is more or less just background graphics. In conclusion I have to admit: Yes, this place struck me ... but in a good way.

Thanks for the video, Tarks. I have a question. I've already beaten the game, and played through most of it solo. As you mentioned, most combat became kind of mindless when I had my super-competent AI buddy tagging along. What really grabbed my attention in this video was when you mentioned the commentary and scenes you can miss by going solo. I caught some level-specific lines, like Yakumo saying "Your call. Go for them or let them march by" when a large group of Lost were marching ahead in the distance. However, are there actual cutscenes and content beyond a few brief lines that you can miss? The Yakumo onigiri cutscene triggered even when I played solo, but I'm curious to know if I've been missing more than a few level-specific quotes.

I love this game how it is and the art style, I love how we can change the class anytime. Maybe is like Dark Souls but we can’t praise the sun in CodeVein:-)

Never played a Souls game because I'm not a masochist (in fact I rage fairly easily) so that's not for me but after playing the demo for this game, I'm interested. I'm a sucker for good character creators, and if it's easier than the genre norms require then all the better.

TBH I have put at least 3 to 4k hours on each souls game and the Cathedral of Blood didn't offend me man, idc if it looked like Anorlondo. It's a well designed zone, that will confuse the crap outta most ppl the first time through it. Oh and ps to anyone reading this: This game is voiced by the same group as the HxH 2011 english dub.For instance Louis is Meruem.

We can only hope they add PvP in the later dlc's or updates. They confirmed it wasn't gonna be in at launch, but said they'd look into in the future. Hope they do, they've done well listening to the community so far. PvP will be what keeps this game being played.

I want to buy but it feels really clunky like I'm sliding on the floor, the dodge feels weird and the stagger doesn't match up or it feels like every monster have a super armor.. like it's a hack n slash instead of action rpg.. I love the massive character customization and lots of different classes to play with.. maybe I'm just comparing it too much on souls games but I tried the GE3 and really enjoyed that despite that's almost like Code vein..

After 1 shoting the ornstein and smough of this game I would say it is worth it. But if you hate ornstein and smough and you value your controllers life span, I would not suggest this game when you meet sword bearer and cannoneer as you will, you WILL want to break your controller.

I'm really looking forward to playing this one. I think there is more leeway in taking inspiration from other games given how they're experienced. A shooter with ideas borrowed from Half Life would only be stronger for it. Its different in movies or music where they would just then be unoriginal. A derivative game might still be plainly enjoyable

Tokyo Ghoul + Dark Souls then, it appears. Man, I wish Bamco would either rein in their character designers or fully embrace their smuttier side. This in-between their flagship projects seem to be stuck in these days feels really disingenuous to me. It's as though they want to be exploitative (which I'm fine with as such, for the record) while also acting as though they aren't doing just that.

How do you do the soulsborne respawn mechanic without writing it into the narrative? You daft boy? Anyway... I never encountered any of those texture pop-ins or framerate snags, you sure you're not just playing on a toaster? Potato maybe?

Played it beat it and enjoyed it but I feel its worse than Dark Souls Demon Souls and Bloodbourne and my own personal favourite Nioh. Right to the end the combat just felt a bit to loose for my tastes and the environment while great in some cases just never really popped for me. I did enjoy the focus on characters and how they used that to flesh out the narrative I also loved the way you can change up builds by mastering blood arts. I also really enjoyed having a companion around it just gave it a different feeling to the prior mentioned games. Character creator was also really good and it looks like Nioh 2 will be doing the same albeit in its own style. While I only finished it once (way to many game to play) I also like how you can save/kill bosses and in doing so it will get you a different ending and give you access to different blood codes and therefore skills.

code vein is easy... NG+ 6 knock on the door (at max level with the best gear and defencive build you can almost survive 2 hits from a standart mob). Also in a sense yeah code vein is easy and so is dark souls if your using OP gear :D

I am currently newgame + 7 got all trophies really love the game, only downside i personally find is the game crashing more often than a windows 98 computer trying to run the latest COD game highest graphics. For real, the amount of times i had to re- do entire levels, just because the game decided to crash directly afther defeating the last boss made me quit the game. It happeneds more often than it does not. I wonder if its because im playing ps4 pro, or because my character costumization is too flashy (I found out the ps4 responds VERY bad to lots of flashy colours so that might be it) I would recommend it, especially if you dont mind losing hours of progress over blue screens of utter fuck you go do the level again *Code vein has run into some unexpected problems 0%....*

Best story in souls style game with great Japanese voice acting, I platinum this game pretty quickly, this and nioh are my favorite 2 souls style games as I plantium both, dark souls on the other hand has really boring combat in my opinion, sekiro is my favorite game by the dark souls creator but is not as good as nioh and code vein.created hatsune miku best girl,

This game kinda disappointed me. All the area's were kinda boring (kinda felt like a pre-gen area, nothing really stood out). Two interesting bosses became boring cutscenes. Combat was fun tho, and soundtrack was good. I just think the game could've been so much better.

For me it felt like God Eater 3 with pasted on inferior Dark Souls style combat. Also the game world is dull and boring to explore.
