It wasn't retroactively categorized as a spinoff its a game with a completely different combat system set in a different universe from chronicles. To get rather nerdy this is the Vampire: The Requiem to Valkyria Chronicles Vampire: The Masquerade, Sure some of the names are the same but the content and gameplay are completely different.

I don't remember saying this tbh. Is there a timecode? Edit; Nevermind. I found it. Yeah, I'm not 100% sure what happened there. I'm guessing there was some confusion in an interview translation here. I'm looking through development notes for the game again now and it seems it was developed as a second mainline series of Valkyria Games similar to how we have retro and 3d Mario games and they're all "main lines."

Very good analysis. Many people are stuck with the first part of Luke's change (from brat to post-Akzeriuth selflessness) and say it's too sudden, but what they don't realize is that Luke's most important development is actually post-Akzeriuth to post-Tower of Rem. He goes from having absolutely no sense of self-worth (to the point of suicidal ideation) to having the will to live. And as a player, that was heartbreakingly beautiful to behold.

The biggest sadness was discovering Monster hunter would never makes its way to the Vita. I enjoyed them on the 3ds, but always thought how much better they would have been on the Vita where they belonged.

Id reccomend Lost in Vivo for people looking for a good horror game. Very much Silent Hill inspired with exploring a kinda gross abandoned area with creepy unsettling atmosphere.

Im currently going through Sea of Stars. Im not super far into it but its just a really fun turn based rpg. Ive played alot of Last Guardian but for whatever reason just never finished it. I remember leaving off on a part about these pots with an aroma or something but had issues doing what i was supposed to and just quitting.

I felt the same about ghostwire, I just enjoyed the side quest the most since they felt like I was doing something since the main story was meh.

While I love FF4's characters I also don't think it's one of the best, the story is too short and the whole game feels like a giant cut-scene with the exception of the 2/3 bosses that actually require some thinking, HOWEVER The after Years is where the good stuff is at, I know a lot of people like to criticize the afters years as just a repeat of FF4 and maybe it is on a superficial level but The after years is much MUCH more than just a repeat, it enhances the gameplay aspect with QoL and it rewards exploration with better collectibles, it ramps up the difficulty of nearly every zone in the game making it harder to breeze through the game by just pressing A like in classic FF4, it introduces the combined attacks and lunar cicle mechanics, the bosses both new and old returning ones also get more HP which makes their unique mechanics actually relevant and harder to cheese with spells like Bio or Kain's Jump and the new characters are just as charming as the original cast and also enhance said original cast, all in all The After Years is easily Top 3 Classic Final Fantasy A side note: Good to see everything's goin well hope you can find a good balance between your family, work and this channel, cheers

I've been on a pretty big retro RPGs kick lately! I've finished Earthbound and Link's Awakening DX on NSO for Switch, and I've been replaying Final Fantasy VII (PSone) a lot of the middle parts of the game I haven't seen since I was a kid, and I've been appreciating so much about it in both story and game design. I've also been working through Breath of Fire III, another childhood fave, but mybold disc was so screatched up I couldn't finish the game, but I finally got a working copy a while back, and I started Tales of the Abyss, which has been sitting in my backlog far too long

The PS5 version has a ray tracing option too, which of course looked great, but as you can expect knocked the FPS down considerably so I just settled without it. The baked lighting still looked good, just not AS good.

"The Last Guardian" To this day, I still don't know if I enjoyed it or not. I like the ideas, the atmosphere, and just the wonder of the setting. But actually playing it...yea-no. I haven't gotten so frustrated with a game since, funnily, doing the Hard Mode Time Trials for the PS3 version of "Shadow of the Colossus, the one with burked physics causing Wander to stumble constantly. "Ghostwire Tokyo" I still feel like I want to play this, especially in lieu of Tango Gameworks closing, but I just can't bring myself to. It gives me the exact same vibes as "The Evil Within" did. As silly as it sounds, I have some real scars of insecurity due to how much flak and ridicule I ended up getting for liking that game at the time, it scares me off from even bothering with this one. "No One Lives Under the Lighthouse" I've never played it but I did watch an analysis review of it by Pastra. It definitely seems like an interesting time. Very much a sort of experience you let gradually soak in.

I really liked Evil Within 1 (More than its sequel even) It's a shame it didn't get much love at launch, but it's a game I think people will look back on more fondly over time.

The Last Guardian had some wonky updates and patch history, but I believe (Don't quote me) if you never install updates for it on PS5 it should run in 60fps. But there's potential for the game to crash (Maybe even be unbeatable) without the patch that knocks it back to a locked 30fps.

The story kinda meh, open world collectathon bullshit, but gameplay is decent fps. Oddly enough it looks like ass on XB Series X but on PS5 far superior graphics and framerate. It's like the devs just did it for Xbox one dev kit and called it a day labeling it "XB X|S" when it definitely isnt lol.

( Repetitive but kinda addictive ) Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord ( You WILL rot blood ) Stranger from Paradise ( God this suck I didn't even finished it ... Go on people... throw me rocks😶) Monster Menu: The Scavenger's Cookbook ( it's bad. ) Trinity Trigger ( I was very disappointed ) Kuro no kiseki 2 ( It's amazing and addictive like freakin' cocaine ... oh Gods Kai no kiseki in September? Please stop Falcom ... No don't stop ...yes stop! NO DON'T Hook theses games in my VEINS! ) ( I think I need a Therapy )

I've heard silent hope was quite a surprise hit for some people. Trinity trigger is divisive to say the least. It's a Furyu game I believe, so I kind of expect some questionable design. Still want to try it myself someday though. I like how much it looks like a 3DS game.

Don't know how I feel about this game. I loved it until I made it to the Infernal Castle. I hated every other part until I finished the last 16 level dungeon of the old school house. The game didn't know when to quit and there were waaaay too many boss fights. I just beat it and I am still angry about it because the game lied and said it was the final fight so many times only to throw in more and more boss fights at you. I can't see myself playing the game again because of that. That being said I loved the final ending and it made me cry. It was so emotional.
@TarksGauntlet
@TarksGauntlet 11 күн бұрын
The final dungeon is definitely way too big. That's an issue I have with so many RPGs but this game took it to a new level. But man the events at the end of that dungeon were insane. Some of my favorite moments in the whole series/franchise there.

This is one game I'll be truly sad if it every completely disappears, and is one reason I believe game preservation must happen. It's only ever been on PS2 and 3DS, not the most accessible things anymore between the game, systems, and play ability comfort. I don't know how well to trust them to remake it anymore either, given things that happened to Symphonia. But I hope it gets another port, especially on PC, and more especially a good port. And with the same voices, don't redo that, it'll ruin the feeling of everything.
@SiliconSlyWolf
@SiliconSlyWolf 14 күн бұрын
The biggest complaint I have to agree with is, if you want to fully experience this game, you basically need a guide. A good amount of the optional end game stuff is locked behind a side quest where you have to go back into a dungeon for no other reason than to meet an NPC, a dungeon you walk by like 50 times over the course of the game, and there's like a single plot point A to plot point B window to do it. Then you have to meet this NPC again in a town with no prompting inside another very small window of time. If you mess up either of these, you can't see about 25% of the game.
@SiliconSlyWolf
@SiliconSlyWolf 14 күн бұрын
I've never gone looking for reviews of this game, but I also almost never see anyone putting one up in recommendations. This game has possibly ruined many other games for me by not being as good to me by comparison.

That King Arthur game did little on its own to give itself a chance sadly. It's sad what happened to Enix games, because I knew of Enix as the company that made some very good games. Some bad ones, too, but they were a company I went to for their oddities

This game is just so definitely my jam. The special brand of late PSP character models and environments, the light-hearted tone, the little attention to detail. This game just holds a certain joyfulness that's really hard to quantify, in a way that really is similar to Megaman Legends or Grandia
