they probably meant for you to die to Cruz, then meet Karen upon waking up and designing your character and name since she asks you how much do you remember but the camera doesnt pan to our face until after she hands the tablet to us, that way when Jack shoots us, we hear Cruz tell us to save everyone just like when she held us after draining her only to be woken up by a mixture of the 2 women who ever talked to us, Cruz and Karen in the form of Io making the connect to Io all the more important as she wakes us up like Karen and looks a lot like Cruz and shares her voice

I think from our equipment at the beginning of the game, we get that we are part of the Operation Queenslayer. I was utterly confused about who is the queen, and how shitty the world turn out like this. Wish they kept it in so at least i can have a better understanding of the world setting.

@@damondusklight I absolutely could have seen this as the beginning of the game, the cutscene never shows your character implying it was gonna be the intro cutscene before Karen wakes you up or even before Cruz does as both are places where you can stick in a character customizer, but if they made the Memories first it would teach you everything, Jack as the default partner, basic gameplay, a rival in the form of the Queensknight before you fight it again at the Provisional Government Building showing how far you've come, meeting Karen and Aurora and SIlva, then you get shot Suddenly everything is different, Cruz teaches you about Blood Codes since your heart was damaged, you wake up and see Io who looks like Karen who woke you up before and Cruz who was just talking to you, you wonder where is Jack, Silva, Karen and Aurora on to be forced into a walking scene and picked up by shady revenants, they take Io from you and for all you know she's the only thing in this world that Knows who you are and you the player remember Karen and Cruz and think "oh shit I won't let them take the one thing I have in this world from me", now the game teaches you about Different Weapons, and Blood Veils, now you Meet Louis after being split from Io and Oliver and he looks an afulot like Karen but you don't have time to worry about that, save Io and relive Olivers memories and now you Join Louis all of this could have still kept intrigue so the only reason I can guess they don't is because they want Aurora to explain successors later but to me they still give you the flashback before her fight so you would have put it together anyways if you weren't burnt out by the cathedral

We had to have died before that to become a Revenant in the first place, then we died against the Queen, then we were killed by Jack after we fought the Queen again and killed her. And that's just the times we know about. Operation Queenslayer was long and brutal, and we could've also died to Lost any number of times. Unless we were just an extremely good soldier who was basically untouchable.

@@lane2972 I like to think that this video was supposed to be the first death, then we wake up in the infirmary. It makes sense as an original starting point, too, since it's still in first person until after Karen gives us that pad, which was probably where we were originally going to create our character.

@@atlasgraham154 yeah I personally think the game could have worked with the flashback as the start of the game rather than the Io scene, but I guess they wanted to the past to be more brutal than the present by making us fight the queens knight as an actual tough boss later but to me that would have been perfect as he comes back as one of the final 4 bosses next to Silva and the other attendants, fighting him at the beginning and near the end would have made the rematch like "i'm not the same fresh soilder I used to be", plus we could have been level 30 or 50 in the past, Jack kills us to save us from Frenzy but because we died we don't remember operation queenslayer and we revert to lv 1 when we meet Io how ever many years laters, that way when we get to the cathedral and find the vestige it's like gaining our old strength back plus what ever haze we were holding at the time

Pretty much, and the memory isn't even required to progress it is just sitting there in the cathrdral randomly. Jack looks to the corner regardless of if you killed Aurora or not and it looks really weird.

Mmh, considering that you are equipped with a Queenslayer claw (which item description states that it was produced for revenants taking part in operation Queenslayer) and that the first prison room you wake up in everyone wears the same veil, you pretty much get right away that your character has a military background; even one of the prisoners states that they just returned from Operation Queenslayer.

@@nicklancial7103 The first two weapons that they give you (the iron tube and the construction worker's hammer), were given to you by the Revenants who captured you, since they don't even care, they send their slaves with pure garbage to defend themselves when they search for blood pearls. Against this in the tutorial you use the Queenslayer sword and bayonet, used by the soldiers in the operation with the same name.

I was honestly hoping that the true ending boss fight would have been the queen in her human form, would have definitely made the fight more interesting compared to the Virgin Reborn

But the implication is that the Queen is literally undefeatable at full strength. Hence the Virgin Born which is only an abominable knockoff. Hell, the only reason the Queen didn't immediately kill the player, Gregorio and Jack during Operation Queenslayer is because it had been fighting and winning for months without rest. Pushing back Silva's military without cease. Operation Queenslayer was long and brutal; Silva's side were desperately replacing their numbers throughout the whole ordeal. If it returned after Silva's defeat, fully restored, no fatigue and no injury, there would be no boss fight. If Louis hadn't stabbed the player character in the worse case scenario, then the Queen would emerge and the game would be over because it took back all of its power from the successors. Even if the player character doesn't become its vessel, they and every other character shouldn't have any chance of beating it since they're not even successors anymore.

It sounds like a version of Mido's theme when you fight him. Unfortunately I don't know the name of the track, and there are a few tracks missing from the limited edition's soundtrack (i.e Memory of the Lost/the tutorial theme) So I guess we're just going to have to wait out until their is a full and completed soundtrack release.

Nah, they probably just scrapped it because they changed the order of events, this was probably supposed to be the very first area of the game, evidence if this would be that the shot of the lost coming over the hill was in the first announcement trailer, and the memory sequence was the very first area they used in a gameplay demo, they probably changed it because the Queen's Knight would be almost be unfair levels of difficult for players just starting out, the Queen's vanguards littered about would also be hell for low level players besides there's nothing really all that gruesome about this scene, it's on the same level as everything else, and if this really was a censorship issue, then Io's chest would be completely covered up, that's the kind of stuff Sony has been censoring, not blood and gore

This game needs a massive expansion right about now. The dlc were lackluster.

Well...maybe not I've only played the demo so far and I didn't see anything as gory as this but I'm sure further in the full game it does get even gorier.
