A former bull rider, country music artist Cody Johnson is a force to be reckoned with. Following the breakout success of his albums Cowboy Like Me and Gotta Be Me, backed by hits “Wild As You" and "With You I Am", Cody ups the ante with his new album Ain’t Nothin’ To It - his first project on the CoJo Music/Warner Music Nashville imprint. Featuring the country radio hit “On My Way To You”, Ain’t Nothin’ To It showcases his full range of talents, brandishing the no-nonsense attitude that Cody brings to his music and passionate, rowdy concerts, which include a sold-out performance in front of 74,177 at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo - giving new fans a taste of what CoJo Nation, Cody’s diehard fan base, have known for years.

I have never Rodeoed a day in my life and this song makes me miss it. I can only imagine how he feels walking off the stage and riding off in front of that sold out crowd. Has to be the best feeling in the entire world.

Yellowstone S4E9 brought me here. The song itself is quite well written. The way the lyric dances across the backing track, the pentameter is impeccable. And then there's the arraignment. Tele on the left, Lester on the right and the steel guitar crying in the middle. Good catch with Yellowstone. It was a perfect fit for the storyline.

Not very many songs bring a tear to my eye. But as a retired Rodeo Saddle Bronc Rider who had to leave the sport way too soon, this gets me.
@Chris-pt5gc
@Chris-pt5gc Жыл бұрын
The only person that retired was you retired on yourself. Many different ways you can still be involved with rodeo but you choose the direction that you're on. Understand it's not wise to get back in the saddle, but rodeo is a lifestyle like trucking is a lifestyle. If it wasn't good for me to be in the driver's seat, I certainly won't retire or quit. Many different ways you or I can still be part of something that can't explain the love we have for what we do. It's the passion for the lifestyle we love. Love what you do and you will never ever work a day in your life and getting paid for doing what you love feels like a bonus.

@Johnny White Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. I choose not to quit and most likely never retire. The day you retire, is the day your putting an expiration date on yourself. My individuals that do, not long after = Die of boredom. Just like many who have been married for 50years go home shortly after the spouse passes on.

He owned the Houston Rodeo that night! What makes it even crazier is that he was the replacement act with only a few days to prepare when Old Dominion canceled at the last minute due to a death in a band member's family. There were very few people at the swag stands before he played. Afterwards there were long lines at every one. Cody played to a packed house and made everyone a fan.

@@Robert-yf1kn Does genre really matter? There are countless examples of music crossing over from one genre to another. In the end it's music. And your personal tastes are just that-personal. Let other people enjoy their choice. It's a big world.

Michelle Hughes lucky you! I was there when he had just started music and would fill up a small bar in my hometown in Texas, and we would all dance to a few of his songs. Watching him grow this big makes me emotional, he is the best. Can’t wait to see him live again, I will follow this man on tour. CoJo Nation forever!!!!

I just watched Codys documentary. Now I'm listening to this song in a whole different way. Its not necessarily about a rodeo. But a dream. Mine was baseball. And when it ended i blamed everyone and everything. Lost myself in partying and alcohol. But it wasnt them. It was me. Now i see it. I too was jaded.

One of the reasons I love country music is it’s relatability, this song is a prime example. Cody Johnson writes a love letter to the sport of rodeo, a sport he loved with all his heart but ultimately had to give up. The feelings in this song resonate with me and my love of baseball. I miss college baseball. There truly is nothing like it. The camaraderie with the team. The daily grind of pushing yourself to get better. Cody says it best “somehow the highs outweigh the lows and I’d do it all again even though we both know, I’d still have to let you go.” Life is good, and I wouldn’t change it for the world. But to not look back is impossible. The bond I had with baseball and all that came with it was irreplaceable. I guarantee you right now you’ve got something in your life that you cherish like this. So whatever it is, cherish it a little more. Because one day it’ll only be a distant memory, and you’ll have to look back wondering if you loved it enough.

Dear rodeo I'd be lying if I tried to tell you I don't think about you After all the miles and wild nights that we've been through Lord knows we had a few Dear rodeo I'd like to say that I took the reigns and rode away No regrets, no left unsaids, just turn the page Awe, but you know better babe. Between all those towns and broken bones. The dream of a buckle I'll never put on I'm jaded, woah, I hate it. But, somehow the highs outweigh the lows and I'd do it all again, even though We both know I'd still have to let you go So dear rodeo, I've tried like hell to tell myself it was all your fault. I held on tight with all my might, I just couldn't hang on. And that's hard to hang your hat on. Between all those towns and broken bones. The dream of a buckle I'll never put on I'm jaded, woah, how I hate it. But, somehow the highs outweigh the lows and I'd do it all again, even though We both know I'd still have to let you go Dear rodeo, I'd like to think you miss me too, but I know ya don't. Aww, but that don't change the past and that dont change the truth. I'm still in love with you Dear rodeo.

I love the movment in country music being made over the last few years. And the demand for legit music over mass produced trash. Im more partial tothe Jinks's, Ward's, Colters and cauthens bht dammit mr. Cody here knocked this out of the arena. The likes of Cody and Watson with the more 'traditional' sound... they are simply amazing. Please keep it up gentlemen. Make radio waves worth it again please.

This is perhaps the best video of a country song I have seen. The way he flicked his guitar pick down, showing that he let his whole heart out on that song, and then rose that horse throwing his hat in the stands so that he is not simply “hanging his hat” like he sang, but is moving forward and letting that hat fly out and land where it may… just brilliant. I am no stranger to having to let dreams die, but God knows where He is leading us and His plans are better than our own. Thanks Cody!
