Hi Ahmad, thanks for choosing to learn with us! The simple past in French, the passé composé, can be translated as both the perfect present and simple past in English. We'll leave a link to a youtube video which introduces this topic. Alternatively, there's also a link to our season 2 premium course which covers this topic extensively and also includes lesson notes and bonus audio. Hope this helps 😊 Premium materials: coffeebreakacademy.com/courses/enrolled/116983 KZfaq link: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jspmottq2MfFpJ8.html

ça te dit d'aller au cinéma? Does this imply "avec moi"? . What about for more than one person? "ça te dit d'aller au cinéma (avec nous)?
@coffeebreaklanguages
@coffeebreaklanguages 3 жыл бұрын
'Ça te dit' is used when speaking to one person you know well whereas 'ça vous dit' is the plural form which is used when talking to more than one person. This form is also used in a more formal context when talking to someone you don't know very well. Hope this helps!

@@coffeebreaklanguages I understand, that is included in the video. I was thinking of the scenario that I was inviting someone I know to join a group of my friends who are going to cinema, Speaking on behalf of more than one person. Would I have to add 'avec nous". "ça te dit d'aller au cinéma avec nous?

Hello William, Yes, you could add "avec moi" or "avec nous" for extra clarification if you wanted to specify who is going to the cinema. But if you are one person, rather than a group of people, and you're asking someone you know well if they'd like to go to the cinema, "ça te dit d'aller au cinéma" implies that it would be "avec moi". It's like in English when you might say "would you like to go to the cinema?" - in this case, the "with me" is implied.
