Morning Glory Muffins Recipe:
Ingredients
1/2 cup raisins
2 cups Whole Wheat Flour
1 cup brown sugar, packed
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ginger
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups peeled and grated carrots
1 large tart apple, peeled, cored, and grated (or leave the peel on; your choice)
1/2 cup shredded coconut, sweetened or unsweetened
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1/3 cup sunflower seeds
3 large eggs
2/3 cup vegetable oil
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/4 cup orange juice
Directions:
-Preheat the oven to 375°F. Lightly grease a 12-cup muffin tin, or line it with papers and spray the insides of the papers.
-In a small bowl, cover the raisins with hot water, and set them aside to soak while you assemble the rest of the recipe.
-In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking soda, spices, and salt.
-Stir in the carrots, apple, coconut, nuts, and sunflower seeds
-In a separate bowl, beat together the eggs, oil, vanilla, and orange juice.
-Add to the flour mixture, and stir until evenly moistened.
-Drain the raisins and stir them in.
-Divide the batter among the wells of the prepared pan (they'll be full almost to the top but that's OK)
-Bake the muffins for 25 to 28 minutes, until they're nicely domed and a cake tester inserted in the center of one of the inner muffins comes out clean.
-Remove from the oven, let cool for 5 minutes in their pan on a rack, then turn out of pans to finish cooling. Wrap any leftovers airtight, and store at room temperature for several days; freeze for longer storage.

@@WelcometoChickenlandiaI never felt like I might actually die from the heat in the South or Southwest with the moist humidity heat they have there. In El Centro I'd go outside and you could feel the moisture leaving your lungs with each breath. Twice I thought I might die from the heat. OMG it's so hot there. When people tell me it's not the heat but the humidity, I wish I could send them to El Centro for a week in July. Lol

This is a happy place to be and I feel comfort here with the animals.you know I know a guy that loves the little quail eggs with chives and buttered toast. I have to give kudos to sweet little Mary Carl, she’s not afraid of a little hard work. God bless her. It’s very cloudy here so i suspect we might we might be getting ready for a good old heavy duty thunderstorm. Well Jason I do hope your arm is well healed and hope you planted some okra. We having a fish fry and some fried okra would be the best to go with it. Y’all take care and congrats to the winners. God bless y’all.

It's all in the raising of them. My 2 oldest grand daughters have nice manners, but they don't really say sir and ma'am. The middle boys have barely any manners; and use what they have more on strangers than anyone else, I think. The youngest ones, though, are in TX where I hear my daughter in law reminding them everyday. "Yes, what?" And the answer better be, "Yes. Ma'am"! LOL

We put the exact flooring in our chicken house a few years back and every time I clean I say the same thing, I love this floor, only difference is we rolled up the flooring on the side about three inches so the shavings do not get stick in between the wall and the floor, just makes less places for any unwanted little creepy crawlers to hide. Really enjoy your videos!!

Am super happy for the winners of your Arial contest! I know that they are going to love their boots. My cowboy boots are Arians and I have had them for about four years. They just don't wear out. I'm willing to bet that, before y'all get too far into the Summer months, you are going to be looking to put in either a ceiling fan or an a/c unit in the window of the chicken coop . You are going to figure out a classy name for the coop if you do ( I am sure that Miss Peaches can help you out with that ). I do have a question. What is the maximum number of chickens do you think that Mary Carl can reasonably handle? I know that she already has it in her head to buy some more but there has to be a limit that she can safely put in the new coop ( or maybe you can add a second storey to the new coop - or an annex ). I still think that she should be teaching a course at Auburn. Love, love, love your site. So glad that Alex and Jacob at Sawyer Ridge Farms turned me on to it. I have learned a lot about gardening from you. The other sites do give me a lot of ideas too but you, being in the South as we are, have much more relevant information . Thanks!

Love your videos. They bring back so many memories of times spent on my grandparents farm. It was a lot of hard work but I learned a lot and have so many great memories from the time I spent there. My grandfather was blind for all the years I knew him. He ran a dairy, tobacco, grain, beef, hog, chicken and market garden farm. He drove trucks, the tractor and all the other farm equipment. He used to get me to be the navigator and give him steering directions. We'd have close calls sometimes and he'd tell me not to tell the womenfolk. I only recently told my 87 year old mother about us driving across the pond dam. My grandfather died in 1976 I kept our harrowing adventures a secret for a long time! Lol

Hi Cog Hill Family. When I see one of your videos is on my feed it always makes me smile! I am subscribed!!! I very much enjoy seeing Mary Carl taking care of the animals, she is very knowledgeable. I really like how Father and daughter are a team, reminds of my Father and I when I was young (he passed several years ago). I'd like to encourage You All when cleaning, sweeping and raking shavings in an enclosed place to wear mask to protect your lungs and respiratory system- especially important given all that is going on in the world right now. Thank you for the videos and all you do. A Registered Nurse (RN) fan :)
