Worth it though for us Part107 guys if this isn't on a ban list due to being made in Malaysia. Honestly just seems like DJI testing the waters of getting around that if and when it happens.

I haven’t bought one because I was expecting to get a TEMU drone when the package came, but good to know it’s legit. Thanks for taking the risk! This truly could be the pilot test to evade the ban. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Gotta be the consumer answer to ban avoidance, right? Anzu robotics did the same with the Mav3 Enterprise already. Looks like Specta can take up the consumer level drones. Doesn't seem like they are adding the extra $3k on top though like Anzu did :) Will be interesting to see if and when the copy of the Matrice and Ag drones hit the market. Those ag drones are huge now, and there isn't a viable replacement. Would just ground an entire industry.

I saw in Amazon review the speed is higher than from the Air 3. Could it be another base because of different restrictions? So my interests are those: the different limits e.g. distance with active track (limited because of the C-certification), FCC/CE modes (do they change when in Europe) and over all the high speed which is limited to 19 m/s as well because of the C1-certification and the defined restriction comes with it.

I suspect that it's a re-branding (or licencing agreement) in advance of a potential ban of U.S. Governmental agencies being able to buy DJI drones. A very smart move if that's the case.

That has to be the reasoning. You have other companies like Anzu Robotics that are licensing the Mavic 3 Enterprise options, but not any of the entry-level consumer minded drones. I think that's the market that Specta is shooting for. And just like Anzu, assembled in Malaysia and no ties to DJI other than the proprietary licensing I assume. Will be interested to see if and when the same happens with the Matrice and Ag drones. Thankfully it doesn't seem like Specta is doing what Anzu did. Selling the same drone for $3k more :).

It is DJI, but by proxy. DJI is basically letting other companies make their drones and they take a royalty. bypass attempt on the DJI ban likely.

How did you find out about this drone? I hadn't even heard of it until watching your first video on it. I'm tempted, but I'd like to know more about it and the company before pulling the trigger. I'm a Part 107 Certified pilot and have been thinking about getting a new drone. You mentioned that the Cavic Air 3 charger will work on the Specta Batteries. Will the Mavic batteries also work in the Specta? That could be a big selling point.

It's obviously a clone of the Air 3. It should be interesting to see if Specta is part of the DJI family or is licensed by DJI to sell these cloned products. They may even be made by DJI for Specta. Inquiring minds everywhere would sure like to know.

The parent company designs and builds several components for dji, it appears to be a legitimate release with a pseudo license but intended for overseas, not here. It might be a glitch that it is up on amazon US in some areas but I don't see it..

You're looking for differences between the two drones, but why would there be? This specta drone isn't a rip off copycat drone junker that just looks like the air 3 ? Like most of the mini drones that came out copying the dji mini 1&2 they were all garbage but DJI licensed and shared schematics with spectra charging and allowing them to build an exact replica. I believe they knew about this push to take DJI out of the market by government and are covering their asses to keep generating cash from this market through licensing fees. If DJI does lose all government contract like police and fire departments and search and rescue etc. What better place for those clients to go than Specta for exact replicas and parts, software updates etc?

I mean - we’re not stupid. This thing looks more than just “similar” to the DJI Air 3. All the same specs and 100% identical looks (minus badging) - You can’t tell me that if DJI really wasn’t involved in some way that they wouldn’t have a team of lawyers issuing cease and desist orders on this company. It seems like a pretty great product for the price, but without the proven track record of DJI, the quality of their customer support, etc., I’m just not buying it. DJI may be overpriced due to the lack of competition, but there’s no denying their quality. I’m not in the market for another GPS camera drone at the moment (my Air 2s is still more than enough for my needs and I just bought an Avata 2, which I’m completely in love with), but if I were, I’d absolutely be willing to pay more for the genuine DJI version of this drone.

This drone on amazon is $1199. Basically paying $1200 for a copy. Also geo zones are lock and can not be unlock on this copy. So not worth it when the original dji air 3 is $100 more. You aint saving shtz buying a geo locked drone. Lmao
