Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a very common treatment approach to help people explore how their thoughts, feelings and behaviors interact. CBT is widely accepted as a best practice to help people with depression, anxiety, anger and addiction issues begin to change self defeating thought patterns to improve their mental health. This is a fabulous tool for addiction treatment as well since stinkin' thinkin' is a well known relapse trigger.

Depression makes you feel like your life is crashing like a parachute that was stretched out too much and tore appart because of the pressure. It's sad how many people are actually cuffed to depression for their entire lifes.

@Gabriel Chisholm Yeah, except that you aren't cuffed to a testicle cuff forever, you will most likely get out of it, where with depression it's never sure if you get cuffed out of it and some have to live with depression cuffed to their brains for life.

Thank you. Effective is that CBT starts with a persons here-and-now perceived thoughts, then emotions and consequences. Positive thought is powerful. "The reality of man is his thought, not his material body. The thought force and the animal force are partners." ~ Baha'i Faith

This is a great video. I believe the urge to feel perpetually happy or tendency towards happiness is not a healthy way to live. I'll prefer to remain curious and excited even when I'm not necessarily happy. Also are there any set of measures (like BP, HR) to quantitatively identify depression ?
@DocSnipes
@DocSnipes 2 жыл бұрын
Typically a person's HR is lower when they are clinically depressed, unless there is concurrent anxiety or PTSD, then that muddies the picture. Its also important to recognize that hypothyroid and other hormone imbalances can cause depressive symptoms as well as low HR and BP, so if the physiological indicators are there, a medical workup is often helpful...at least to rule out

I think you are thinking about cognitive therapy. Cognitive behavioral therapy asserts that thoughts, feelings and behaviors occur in a triad and changing any one of those three impact the other two.
