Great Advice! I worked in a bank for several years. I also worked as a customer service rep and then a customer service manager. Of course, we were taught and taught others to always be nice to the customers. But in reality, what goes around, comes around. We would go the extra mile for our great customers! The jerks got the minimum of what was required and nothing more. Many people never learn that life lesson and live life with a chip on their shoulder and wonder why. Great video! Thanks!

yes i work at arbys, im 15, i usually give the rude customers the minimum but the extra rude i mess up there order on purpose just barely, for example if they get a small coke, i fill it to the top with ice and give them coke or if they order a shake i will fill the bottom with a different flavor, ex if they get a orange creme shake, i fill the bottom with chocolate or jamocha or vise versa and fill the rest with the correct

Coin shortage… that’s the excuse now. I went to 7 banks today, all of which I have accounts at (and have paid tens of thousands in interest in my various accounts over the years). None had half dollars, and none order them either. So I was fine asking for pennies and quarters, but even that’s becoming difficult and an awkward conversation. Anyways, thanks for covering this in a video. I guess you can learn how to do anything on KZfaq, and this certainly helps.

Haha, it doesn't surprise me. They are slowly removing coinage from circulation. How is there a shortage when is barely used? It's a joke. If you get a bank willing to work with you, you can say it's for a kids party. Thanks for watching!

@@CampbellsCoins Interesting… I am trying to develop a relationship with my local branch. I filled out a survey the bank sent to my email, and I mentioned problems obtaining rolls of coins. I got a call the next day from the branch manager! She had a long conversation with me, answering all my questions and offering to let me order boxes once their restrictions are lifted. I wasn’t gonna lie… I told her I hunt coin rolls, and she was fine with that.

@@CampbellsCoins I started saying to the banks that I was using them for a fundraiser... !! None of my local banks will allow me to put in an "order" for coins, they say they get what they get and it's never as much as even what they request.

another way to get rid of your coins is to spend them... a lot of businesses actually welcome coins as businesses are constantly having to acquire coins from the bank or armored car service... The key is to avoid making the transaction inconvenient for them.. if you attempt to give a cashier more than a couple of rolls they may not have room in the cash drawer....

With the “so called” coin shortage, no banks should be charging customers to return coins. I think if you have an account, banks should not be charging you any fees for ordering you coins.

If your bank is charging you to order or to return coins, it's worth your time to shop around and maybe open an account with several other banks that don't charge fees. My bank didn't charge me a penny over the price of the penny box i bought. They do charge a fee to use their coin machine, but only if you aren't an account holder. So far they haven't had any half dollar boxes in, but I also haven't had $500 to ask to order one yet either. If you're getting a fee on both ends of your transaction, it will never be worth it for the occasional bit of silver. I live between 2 towns, one has 3 banks, the other has 20. There are OPTIONS so don't settle. And as stated in the video, be polite about it and don't push the point. Also, I have 3 branches of the same bank I rotate between when returning and buying so I don't wear out my welcome. If I really had my way I'd get a lazy boy and just search my quarters at the bank! lol

This video was posted at the start of Covid and Great Coin Shortage. My bank at that time would charge a fee if you did not have a corporate account. My bank has 7 branches in easy driving for me, only the main branch carries halves and dollar rolls. So now what I do is hit each of the minor branches for 3 rolls of cents, nickels, dimes and quarters, then hit up the main branch for the same plus halves and dollars. I use a credit union I belong to, to return the coins. The bank charges 10% to return coins if you don't have an account, the credit union only allows members to use the coin counter. I have not tried to buy a box since 2021.

That’s great advice. I went into a bank locally this weekend to see about getting some change but I asked about there business accounts because I was wondering about them too. Never had asked for the change and ended up liking what I heard. Thanked them and was about to leave and they ask if I needed anything else. I was straight to the point and walked out with a box of pennies. So I’ll set a new account after this holiday is over and have a new place to get coins. Kindness is key. Plain and simple.

"It costs the bank money" is just an excuse, dude. On top of the excuse that we for some reason call a coin shortage. It may cost the bank money, but banks earn money by you simply being a member there not to mention paying interests for things. Most banks have trillions of dollars in assets and can easily afford the fees associated with buying a box. On the other hand, they average person might not be able to. They say that to make people feel bad and they do it to keep people from buying coins. It may cost the bank money, but they make it all and more up from the members of that bank.

Oh wow! I never heard of banks charging a fee for a box of coins. I learned something new. I do a box of pennies every so often, my bank just charges 25 bucks for a box. Really surprising what you can find. I have pulled out some wheat cents that must of been in a piggy bank for 60 years because they looked uncirculated and quite a few 60's and 70's as well. One 1903 indian head out of 10 boxes. The date was easily readable which was surprising. I have watched a lot of vids of nickel hunters and it seems every buffalo nickel they find are complete toast. Either barely read the date or can't read the date at all.
@CampbellsCoins
@CampbellsCoins 4 жыл бұрын
It could be that your bank is eating the costs because of the volume you're getting. A year ago, I was grabbing 4 boxes of pennies with 4 boxes of halves at a time. But ultimately I don't find coin roll hunting to be financially worthwhile. Oh yeah, that' my experience too. Most circulated buffalos are toast. It's a fun activity but that is about it. Thanks for dropping a comment!
