I've always loved Alina's interpretations. Her acting is what made her one of Royal Ballet's and ENB's beloved artist.

This is brilliant. The strength of the orchestra and Corella perfectly mirror each other. I keep watching and particularly from 13 mins to 18:30 (my very favourite music). All dancers great. Never seen anything like the interpretation and passion of Corella.

Listened to a few orchestras playing La Bayadere and, for me, this one with its power, interpretation and phrasing is far the best. Not one note out of tune and perfect complement to show the brilliant dancing at its best. Not know which orchestra but guessing it must be the Corella Ballet orchestra. Does anyone agree.

Actually, in Makarova's production, this is all Act 1. Act 2 is Shades, Act 3 wedding and temple destruction. Cajacaru is really brilliant, so passionate! I wasn't familiar with Ms. Almeida---what a turner! And you run out of praise thinking of things to say about Corella. Is any more of this perf posted? Makarova's production is my favorite. It's nice to see a production in the 21st century that's exactly as Makarova choreographed it. Please, do you have any more of this performance? Thx for posting even this much!

I would have loved to upload more of this performance, but unfortunately the music is out of sync with the dancing in the Shades scene, etc. So sorry.

@@TheBunduBallerina I can see where that would be a challenge, esp for those of us who know and love the ballet! Worse than that video of Misty Copeland in Giselle where people (myself included) end up arguing what's out of synch and what represents her being *really* off the music. I was hoping to find something just via Google search of at least Cojacaru doing Nikiya maybe someplace like daily motion, but this seems to be it other than one posting of her with Almeida doing the "combat" scene. I've only scene one other dancer nail 5 revolutions finishing those fouettes, and that was in a rehearsal, so that was pretty cool. Was she a soloist or first soloist or similar at this point?

I also find myself in deep waters trying to express in words the amount and depth of my appreciation for Angel Corella !!!.... Watching him perform makes me smile, cry, yell bravo ! The main goal of “getting through to the audience”, he’s absolutely THE KING 👑 ! 👏🏼👏🏼🥰🥰💕💕💕💕💕

He was a little after my time in NYC. I read that his premiere with ABT WAS Balanchine's T&V. Not dramatic but I wish I could have seen that live. Did you get to see him in person

I too would love to see the Shades Act. Without music would be better than nothing! There are so few recordings of Alina Cojocaru in this ballet

Thank you for posting these beautiful excerpts. All the artists are superb and a joy to watch. I particularly like the deviousness of the servant who brings the asp in the basket of flowers.. but Alina is outstanding in love and despair. Her arms are so expressive. Do you have any footage of The Kingdom of the Shades with this company?

Would love to see Cojocaru in the kingdom of the shades - I saw in another comment that you have a copy but it is out of sync with the music? I have video editing experience and would be very happy to try correct it, if that would be something you’d be interested in :)
