The myth of Spontaneous Generation of maggots from meat was a theory already disproved by Franseco Redi in 1665. He had three jars each with a piece of meat in them; One open, one closed, and one with porous gauze on top. It was found that the open jar contained multiple flies in and around the area with maggots in the jar. The closed jar had no signs of life in the jar, but flies buzzed around it. We did it in school as a science project many years ago. We completely submerged pork chops in coke. I don’t remember if it was diet or not. We saw little worms come out of the meat. This was also in the USA where we have horrible conditions in which pork and other animals in the meat industry are raised. Absolutely filthy conditions. I wonder if where you are at there are better laws on raising meat?

When in Hawaii I picked a mango 🥭 I asked lady who was having a yard sale if ok ,and brought it back to condo and put it in fridge for breakfast and in morning hundreds of mango maggots were coming out of it !Evidently they hate cold of fridge so never eat mangoes that haven’t been refrigerated Imo!

Hey dude. I can sincerely say its a hit or miss depending if the parasite load the meeat has from the feed it has benn given. But you should try a very good recipe with those same ingredients. Cook the pork with sone salt and pepper until brown on both sides then add the coke until caramelized. It takes so awesome.

Even if theere were maggots.. cook it well enough and that's more free protein

I've marinated my pork in Cherry Cola most of my life and have never seen maggots or any type of parasites in the meat! I only marinate pork in cola if I'm barbecuing it! I am Mexican-American but I learned it from the Filipino people I lived around.( amazing kind-hearted people) Marinate in Cherry Cola and a little bit of brown sugar overnight. Put on skewer Sticks & BBQ. Glaze every so often with water down barbecue sauce nixed with a little sweet and sour and chili pepper flakes. It tastes best with fat on the meat. You can also put pieces of red peppers in between the meat on the skewers. That's one of my favorite things to barbecue!

2021 and he's still giving out hearts

This is a real thing. I did a science project in high school in 1998 to see how stomach acid breaks down foods. I used coke and a pork chop as one base and simple test. Once placed under a microscope you can see all the worms crawl out.

Put that bad boy in the oven with salt, pepper onion powder, let it cook an hour,chop it up and put some BBQ sauce on it. Then put it on a bun with slaw and eat. If maggots are in it, like my uncle say, that is more meat in the pot.

Very interesting. A true test to the myth would be to seal it in a Tupperware container so there's no outside influence like flies, etc. Fun fact, in the summer if you leave a frying pan outside all day in Arizona, by late afternoon you can cook eggs and bacon with it!

A few years ago I got maggots in one of my garbage cans not sure why , perhaps spoiled meat was thrown out and it was in the summer so temps were high . Thought about this for a bit and added a gallon of bleach to the garbage can the maggots did not do well and the garbage smelt better so I added a bunch of paper from the recycling to soak up the liquid and set the can out for collection the next week , can came back clean and had no undesirable odor and have not had maggots since , so it seems that bleach is the atomic bomb to maggots .

Tell you what....if you stir a teaspoon of sage and a teaspoon of salt & pepper into the coke before you pour it on the pork, you will have some mighty good sausage in about 12 hours.
