Stephen Colbert took over as host of The Late Show on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015. Colbert is best known for his work as a television host, writer, actor, and producer, and best known for his charity work teaching English as a second language on Tunisian date farms. Prior to joining the CBS family -- and being officially adopted by network president Les Moonves -- Colbert helmed “The Colbert Report,” which aired nearly 1,500 episodes and required Stephen to wear nearly 1,500 different neckties. The program received two Peabody Awards, two Grammy Awards, and several unwelcome shoulder massages. It won two Emmys for Outstanding Variety Series in 2013 and 2014, both of which appear to have been lost in the move. Colbert is pronounced koʊlˈbɛər, according to Wikipedia. His understudy is William Cavanaugh, who will be hosting The Late Show approximately one third of the time. Good luck, Bill!"

so proud of Adam getting more and more love and recognition, he does great stuff, coming up from college humor to do great things is a common trend and its always so great to see (Sarah writing for SNL, Dan on LWT, Owen on the Daily Show, Jake and Amir founding Headgum etc) but its especially nice to see Adam getting love since the show still has CH members involved like Emily and Murph and knowing the accomplishments and accolades of his family its good to see Adam make a mark too instead of just being "some New York writer"

I don't really see it as an upset laugh at all. I see it as a knowing laugh because someone said something that he knows is absolutely true from personal experience, and that is funny. People major in majors that are pretty useless just so that they can get through college. It's not really important to them what they majored in so much as it is that they graduated college at all.

Actually we can manufacture diamonds now. The new marketing strategy by the old diamond monopolies is try and make mined diamonds seem more valuable because they are 'natural', and less pure 'brown' diamonds seem exotic. But yeah, the general gist that diamonds are bullshit is true

Indeed, no such thing as purity to a diamond. It's just compressed carbon which makes the atoms arrange in a very stable way. There's no purity to it like gold. Anyway, bucky balls and graphene are way more valuable.

frisianmouve come on, you have to know what he meant when he said purity (clarity). It's part of the "4C's" of diamonds: clarity, cut, carat, and color Manufactured diamonds have clarity and size that way surpasses any found in nature

Diamond is just a less-stable form of graphite and is composed solely of carbon atoms. The only differences between other solely carbon-based compounds (like graphic) is the structural arrangement of the atoms themselves. Upon the discovery of diamonds, it was probably just an assumption that diamonds were valuable due to the fact that a diamond is shiny. Our feeble minds decided to put a price on something that just looks good.. go figure.

undeny Yup, cheaper and chemically more pure. They try and pretend that mined diamonds are more valuable because they are 'natural', and that even less pure 'brown' diamonds are exotic. A lot of American diamonds are manufactured in China. I got told this by some jewelry industry types. But you can just google 'manufactured diamonds'.
