alright, first of all, I don't see how any of what you said has anything to do with my comment. I didn't even MENTION gay people. Secondly, what the heck? "I'm not gay and I don't mind gay people" doesn't give you the permission to go around and actually insult the LGBTQ+ community. And, honestly? I don't think they want to be in your way, not with that attitude, bro. I'm just grateful that they don't talk about us straight people the way you talk about them, because that would be pretty rude, d'uh. Oh, one last thing: I've met idiots, and sure, I've also met trans idiots, but I'm pretty sure it's not the "trans" factor that makes you idiot; ignorance, on the other hand...

I loved Stephen in this. He knew it was a heavy topic and that Troye needed to talk about it and get his point across and Stephen was almost silent during the whole interwiew and 100% focused on Troye, not trying to smile to the camera or look at the audience. Great job, sir. I respect that so much.

I am happy she is living her life authentically. I can’t imagine sending your child to conversion camp and worse disowning a child for who they are. So silly what man does and hides it in religion.

Seems like it. Maybe you could watch it first & see how it addresses her particular issues? I don’t know. I wish you the best. She’s the mom but she’s hopefully going to learn some really needed lessons from you. I hope that you don’t risk being your best self to please someone who may not change, though. I don’t mean to say too much since I don’t know much about you. I’m just saying what I wish I could have said to my brother long ago & but didn’t have the perspective to say.

@@MarieGlenna Thank you so much for your advice and kind words. I think I might see the film first, then see if I can try get here to watch it when it gets released on a streaming platform we have. She's Christian, so I feel like this film will address a lot of the issues that people with her mindset have. I've tried many times pointing out to her the hypocrisy of her views, and how her belief that my sexuality is something wrong and should be ashamed is emotionally damaging to people like me, but she just doesn't get it, and keeps acting like the victim in all this. She has watched shows with LGBT characters in them before, but never willingly watched something that is LBGT centered. So, if she knows about what this film is about before hand, it might probably lead to yet another argument. Which is why I'm thinking of making this my watch it, or leave it and me moment.

Lincoln Beckett-Scott When I believed that living a gay life was not in line with God I could not really have an open mind. I can say that watching my brother live his life true to himself for many years was a major reason that I eventually re-evaluated my own religious views & finally fully accept my brother’s ability to direct his own life. It feels absolutely ridiculous, humbling & painful to me now that I was confident for so many years that I knew more about his sexuality that he did. I don’t know if your mom will ever get there or not but I know that you can’t spend your life waiting for her to get it. That said, I hope that she can find a way to understand sooner &, if she’s willing, this movie could be a good way to get there. Please find lots of good-hearted people who fully respect & love you as you are to be around. You absolutely deserve it.

I may have the timeline wrong, but I think his career went: Starsearch - Released Music - Made Three Movies - KZfaq - Some More Movies - Back to KZfaq - Released An EP - Back to KZfaq - Released Albums - Another Movie" So he wasn't exactly created by KZfaq. He just really liked blogging and expanded his fanbase on KZfaq. He was already a Starsearch finalist, in X-Men, and playing the lead in the Spud film series before he started on KZfaq.

I brought my very religious dad to watch boy erased with me when it came out as a gift for me passing an exam. I cried in the cinema, turned around, and saw him crying too. After that we had a long emotional chat in the car. He couldn't give up some of his prejudices, but he knew. He told me "it's gonna be hard for me, I'm old and stubborn, but I know I have to change, and I'll try my best to". It was one of the best moments I with him and I'll remember it for the rest of my life.

Troye was one of the first coming out videos I watched when I was contemplating coming out. I was terrified and that video made me feel so much better. It allowed me to just breathe and start to accept that it's ok to be who I am.

@Dale Greeley That's only according to the rules of your religion, however I don't belong to your religion, and therefore the rules of your religion don't apply to me, and they also don't apply to anyone else who isn't a member of your religion. If you think being gay is a choice, then it must be a choice you want to make, and are resisting. All the heterosexual men I know are in love with their wives or girlfriends, and are entirely repelled by the idea of having a lifelong sexual and romantic relationship with another man. It isn't something they could choose EVER. (Assuming you to be male) if you only married your wife because the rules of your religion said so, and not because you love her, then I think that's a real shame for her to have a husband like you who doesn't love her. If you're a female called "Dale" then you can swap the pronouns in my statement.

i know it isnt that way for everyone -- still, in 2018 -- but its nice to know that more gay kids are having fewer problems when they come out these days. the damage your mind takes when even family turns on you is immeasurable. it causes things you have to deal with for the rest of your life. never heard of this book but im gonna get it. gonna see the movie too.
