Cold air brings frosts, drier for many too

A massive high pressure zone over Tasmania will influence NZ’s weather for at least the next week or two, bringing a drier than average airflow into NZ.
There will be some snow flurries on Tuesday in both main islands but over the week frosty weather is more likely as winds ease for a time.
But the windy weather looks to crank up again this coming weekend - and yes, it’s still coming from off the Southern Ocean.

I know I`ve said it before, but these high`s are way to dominant ,and they shut out a lot of the winter weather the skifields need to get operating with a good snow cover. What`s August looking like, any changes ?

Not that I'm aware of. Highs this big do occur from time to time in our part of the world, especially in our coldest months. They are less likely to be this powerful in our hotter months.
