Natural remedies don't have to be hard, but they take a little forethought! Today we are starting our homemade fire cider recipe so it will be ready when cold season arrives!
A Homemade Fire Cider Recipe
1/2 C. Grated Ginger Root
1 medium onion, chopped
10 cloves garlic, chopped
2 jalapeno peppers
1 lemon, zested and juiced
1 lime, zested and juices
several rosemary sprigs or 2 T dried rosemary
several sprigs thyme
1 T. turmeric
1/4 t. cayenne
1/4-1/2 C rose hips
1 Q. Apple Cider vinegar.
Raw honey to taste.
Put all ingredients (except honey) in a large jar and pour apple cider vinegar over. Cover and place out of direct sunlight to ferment. Make sure you open the lid to "burp" every couple of days so your jar doesn't explode. After 6 weeks. strain and remove all solids. Return liquid to jar and add honey to taste. Drink 1-2 oz as needed, at the onset of any cold-like symptoms, coughing, sore throat.

ALSO - After I strain out the Fire Cider I put all the ingredients into my dehydrator on 135 degrees once there is no moisture I put them all in a blender or coffee grinder process until a fine powder, sift the powder then put the powder into capsules. These capsules are great for traveling with and also for those who have a hard time drinking the tincture. Not to mention there is no waste. 🙏🏻😊

Horseradish is wonderful in it as well. I also recommend that you add in some black peppercorns too. It helps your body with absorbing the curcumin in turmeric, which is what provides its anti-inflammatory properties! LOVE LOVE LOVE me some fire cider!!!! I love this addition to your channel! I will definitely be trying this. In the past, I've given my family one chopped garlic clove with the juice of a half of a grapefruit. It's called "Russian Penicillin. You can blend it or chop the garlic small, take like pills, and chase with the juice. The grapefruit is said to potentiate the anti-bacterial/anti-fungal properties of the garlic. That's why grapefruit is ill advised when taking some medications. This is good if you don't have time to ferment or you have intolerances to some of the Fire cider ingredients. I believe the science is spelled out on my old blog, if you google "vegan opulence Russian Penicillin", for anyone interested in a quicker alternative.

We had something like this growing up, but with different ingredients. The base was whiskey and then you add chili peppers or Jalapeno, horseradish, a lot of cinnamon, cloves, tons of garlic, thyme, a LOT of basil, rosemary, lavender, strong white onions and hibiscus flowers into the food processor. You basically just puree it and add all the ingredients to a big, dark glass jar with a lid. Let it sit for a few hours to a few weeks (depending on if you need it right away or not), filter it with a cheesecloth and add local honey. You can put a shot of this into hot apple cider and you'll be sweating buckets in seconds. It's a hot toddy from hell.

My son doesn't like spicy hot taste, but we use tinctures - 3 drops of boneset tincture a day prevented colds and even flu, when everyone was sick around in January. We also take other herbs for other reasons, so those might be adding to our immune health as well. And we take vit C powder in water daily. However I love cayenne in capsules (I put them in myself), 12 capsules a day cured my tonsilitis and very quickly and without making me weak, like chemical antibiotics used to do.

I’m glad you made a point that there is flexibility in the ingredients. Love the idea of adding lemon and rose hips. I have several citrus trees, including lemon, so I can easily add that to my next batch. Instead of rose hips I will try roselle calyx. I don’t know if roselle has as much vitamin C as rose hips but it’s something I have growing in my garden. Great video.

Jess,,,, got to thinking,,,, tumeric, to get it to work correct, should have black pepper with it for it to be used by the body. Also tumeric (Curry's) is not good for those with stones or kidney problems. A very nice group of Indian women told me that, not a Dr..... Check into tumeric tea's, they are a nice change in the cold winter months, but also a aquired taste.

My fire cider is turmeric, garlic, horseradish, onion, minced ginger, and I use cerrano peppers. Definitely use the raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar, but the recipe I found says shake it twice a day for two weeks and then it's done. What's the advantage of going longer? Mine is pretty hot, but my kids mix it with honey and hot water to make it more bearable. Honey even makes it a stronger medicine.
@jerrypeacock5166

Bruising or grating the garlic and ginger should release the nutrients better, onion too for that matter. If the peppers were let turn red the vitamin C would be higher, old sailor way of getting vitamin C. P.S. a thought,,,,, could you just put in blender and liquify? As it sits will it get that gold color? Could toss a shot in slaw, or in salad dressing. The kids won't even know it's in the dressing.

I want to try this. Never done any of this stuff before. I bought 64 oz mason jars. Where can I find the racks to boil them & does it have to be a specific size rack for my 64 oz jars? Also do you have a video how to sterilize the jars. Thank you!!!!

I think I need to give this a try!!! I have heard so many rave about how helpful this is. I just wonder if it will work as well if I omit the onions as I am allergic to them. ~~Vicki~~

It should be just fine! I'd probably throw in some horseradish root instead. It's a typical fire cider ingredient that I leave out. However if I couldn't have onions I definitely would add it in. Have fun finding a combo that works for you. -Lauren

I can't do hot spicy anymore which is a real bummer. Are those the vacuum seal airlock lids and do you need to add weights to keep mold from forming? Also, I've family who grew up in Russellville
