There are very few swords in the world that are more versatile or effective than the "Hand-and-a-Half" or "Bastard" Sword.
The Hand and a Half Swords formidable 33 1/2" long blade is wide enough to produce amazingly deep shearing cuts, yet still stiff and pointed enough to be astonishingly effective in a thrusting attack. Its long wood-and-leather handle facilitates both one and two handed grips, and it's counter-balancing "scent stopper" pommel makes the sword very lively in-hand while serving as a potent impact weapon in its own right. To safely house the Hand and a Half Swords double edged blade, we have also included a very attractive wood and leather scabbard that is reinforced with a steel throat and chape.
Every one of our Hand-and-a-Half Swords reflects the highest standards in workmanship and materials and comes combat sharp and ready for battle!
We are also proud to offer a companion dagger to compliment this exceptional historically significant sword. Made to the same exacting standards as its larger counterpart, the dagger is sharp enough to cut and slice with either of its twin edges, while being sturdy and stiff enough to stab and thrust as well as block, parry and pass an opposing weapon.

all the tests with an exception of the pull ups and the bend tests were extremely pointless, any person who knows swords knows 1 you would never swing it like a baseball bat as hard as you could and 2 any one of those tests can be replicated with blunt/semi sharp swords if swung in the same manner and preform exactly the same.

I used to wonder that myself many years ago. Since learning a lot, I think the main thing here is that it did not snap. Even the Bladesmith Guilds do not expect a blade to bend that much and come back to true during their master bladesmith tests. They expect it not to break. Also, I believe the blade does get bent but, I think it is wise to leave it out as folks who don't know the art would assume it should go back to true, and then have a negative opinion, of the product, based on a faulty assumption. Hope that makes sense.

This maybe a bit late, but yes they are the same exact sword, made in the same factory, commissioned by Cold Steel. Personally I recommend a sword and armor dealer based out of California called Kult of Athena (www.kultofathena.com/) This is a part of economics that happens in just about every market, but is very visible in the knife and sword market. Lets say Cold Steel makes a sword that costs $100 to make. Once it ships to their distributor in America, they are put it up for sale for $400. Now they will sell some, but not much. Most of their sales goes to other Retailers (like Amazon, Walmart, BladeHQ, Knife Center, Cutlery Shoppe, Kult Of Athena, ect...) in bulk orders. The retailer will buy them by the hundreds and Cold Steel will only charge, lets say, $175 per unit. The Retailer will then put them up for sale at $250.

Max Fiedler Yeah it impresses me too. But lately there have been some good clearance deals, but they are a different story. Right now on Woot you can get a CRKT Heiho for $20, if you like knives, that is one hell of a deal. I liked the Heiho when they first came out, but never got one sine for the price of $50 I have other things in mind, but for $20 I went ahead. The best is looking at some of the Invicta Watches on Amazon. They often claim that a $200 Invicta has an MSRP of $2,000 giving it a 90% mark down. If some idiot buys a Rolex copy for close to Rolex money, I have not sympathy.

@truepoger5232
@truepoger5232 10 жыл бұрын
Bowie7600 Well, is you use the term like now, let's call it "on a street", than yes. It went into such a use so hard, that you often can't even find actual materials about swords not using those as the same. But as a very specialistic terms bastard sword, and a longsword are about slightly diferrent things. Bastard sword is something more between normal longsword we have in mind saying those words, and a rapier. Having not so wide blade, being longer and rathermore focused on thrusting.
@JTWilliams74
@JTWilliams74 10 жыл бұрын
There were never really any treatises or manuals that described any actual differences between longswords and bastard swords. Longswords come in all different shapes and sizes so there's no set length or width of a longsword which makes categorization difficult.

***** this blade was designed for fighting on horse in one hand so you can fighting and steering the horse in the same time but when you are on foot it was used as piercing weapon (when you have one hand on handle and second on half of the blade) for heavy armored enemies or in both hands(to bring more cutting power) for light, or without armor
@RedRevolverTV
@RedRevolverTV 9 жыл бұрын
+csknives It's got nothing to do with introducing power into a cut, by using the correct technique you shouldn't require a baseball type swing where you simply use strength rather than technique. Yes, you need strength to cut however, by placing your weaker hand on the pummel instead of both hands next to one another you can use momentum and pushing and pulling force rather than massive and tiring swinging which not only causes messy cuts but also makes it more difficult to cut through an object, this is clearly shown in manuals and described in various videos on youtube. So therefore your power "technique" isn't quite as effective and therefore using true physics and techniques you should do research and practice the correct technique of swinging a longsword/bastard/hand and a half sword.

Most Western swords have bad handles and too long. A good grip is more important in a sword than a small knife especially when you want to use it with one hand. A short light weight sword with a good grip in more effective in close combat than a long one. I bought a sword like the one shown and sold it.
