tinyurl.com/mdwx6y6 Some people say "Enough with the knife reviews!" To which I counter "Too bad..I love knives!". Which brings us to this video...the latest addition to my collection of ridiculously sharp and pointy things: The Cold Steel Voyager XL Clip Point Uber-Knife. This is $45 worth of "Holy Crap!" Easily the sharpest, pointiest knife I've ever pulled out of the box, and probably the very first knife I did not immediately resharpen myself. This an outstanding option for a defensive blade. Watch me drool all over it in this latest video, destined to really urk my 4 faithful "thumbs down commandos".
For further review, check out these videos from other more technically in-depth reviewers:

I bought one of these and immediately ordered another one. It was that impressive. God awful sharp and mean looking, this knife has a triad lock system that makes it strong as well as deadly. I didn't like the look at first because I had an old model voyager that was a favorite. This one changed my mind. Your point about knives in a fight are correct. I personally know a mother who's son was killed with a small $2 steak knife the killer picked up off the kitchen shelf. The blade was so flexible it went right between the ribs and into the heart with one stab. Pretty sad. We need more knife reviews, esp. since some of the old school reviewers are off topic. CutleryLover is reviewing cigars, wildlife, and all sorts of non-knife videos. I wish he would get back to knives.

My first cold steel was the Spartan plain edge and I was amazed by the weight and sharpness of the knife as soon as I got it hours later I was a bit careless closing my Spartan and the tip glided through the side of my index finger with just the weight of the blade and back spring alone with zero effort drew no blood and felt no pain whatsoever cleanest cut I ever received from a blade in my collection that I haven’t polished myself and I was amazed

Great video thanks. Love Cold Steel Demko designs and tri-ad lock. Just ordered the XL Voyager drop point with the 5.5" AUS-10 japanese steel & saber grind. It also has the jimping you wanted on the back of the blade. Love the grip of the grivex handle and extra length with the different grip options it give you. The knife is perfect for my left hand when my right hand is busy holding my XL Espada.

I have one of these and I love it. It's nice and light, which I normally would say feels cheap, but this doesn't. It's perfect for a secondary or...third... blade on hikes or camping. I like full flat grinds on smaller knives and this one is perfect.

Good buy. Great knife. I got one and I liked it so much, I got a second one. I like it because it is big blade, great lock up an very light for its size. A real true large pocket carry due to its light weight. I use it with a pouch and carry it on my left side horizontally. It is not as as strong as the CS Spartan or the Rajah II, but it is a lot lighter. And it will accomplish 90% of the tasks the Spartan or the Raj II will.

G'day Chris, It was a good vid back then and still is. Funny. Excellent knife. I have this model in the L and XL. They now come with the CTS BD1 steel. It's really easy to keep a super sharp edge; field stropping is a breeze. At home I can quickly bring them back to factory sharpness by several passes on an F. Dick MultiCut steel; don't really need the WorkSharp unless they have had a heavy workout. Pocket clips; take them off and toss them; useless. Only negative. I had great leather belt sheaths made for them. I'm with you on Cold Steel's machetes. They arrive worse than blunt. I sent my first one back and got a full refund! Their folders, however, are outstanding.

The tanto is the way to go. And the turned down handle allows you to punch a upper cut to chin without even opening the SHARP BLADE! This is a man's Knife. You spend a ton just getting us informed. I say thanks you as always please! Keep up the great work you do! I say the Army would carry such a knife but it folds. But who cares! Very well made knife and well worth the money. It just shows a well made knife with many apps. for a cheap price!

I watched the 16 minute video trying to see what the knife looked like when it was being closed. I was concerned that my precious pinkies would be in danger because I've never had a Cold Steel knife with the lockback. You managed to do a great job of opening the knife on camera but closing it below the bottom of the shot. I guess I'll go check out nutnfancy's video. I'm not really complaining because I really did enjoy the video and did learn some stuff.

Hi , Once again Great Vid, I am going to a long winded on this comment , First I don't worry about pocket clips , I use a long Para cord through the hole at the end of the handle and put a large metal clip on the cord. I Let the clip hang out of my pocket, so the cord doesn't fall into my pocket .. Sometimes I just let the knot hang out of the pocket and keep checking it to make sure it's still there if I need it !!

I have just got my cold steel COUNTER POINT XL, Love the knife but it will bit you if not careful , I am speaking from experience.. On my XL the back spring is very stiff ,when I first started using it ,I had to use both hands to close the blade. The blade is heavy and comes down in a flash as soon as the lock releases the blade and yes it caught my finger and cut it pretty good. I now let the blade fall onto something soft in front of me , no more cuts ! I was wondering if anybody out there knows how to get some of tension out of the back spring ,so that its not so hard to close ? Also another warning ,the Thumb studs are not large enough to flip open the blade all the way , and if you try to do it that way you WILL cut your thumb! The way I've learned to do it (open the blade) is to start with the thumb stud ,get the open slightly then snap it open using your wrist ... The Xl is my EDC now ! I know not much of what I have said has much to do with Preparedmind101's vid but I used it because he has so many followers .. I don" want to see any body get hurt .. EDGY

CS also should stop putting stickers on the blades of its machetes. You can't peel them off without leaving a residue of paper adding glue which has to be burned off. Who needs a sticker telling them the blades are sharp? As for the Voyagers, my favorite by far is the XL Tanto Plain. It's a bit heavier, but is an outstanding chopper, can pry open wood doors and easily penetrate a 50-gallon drum with no damage to the blade or tip. These knives are incredibly sharp, and the Vaquero recurved blade model is highly underrated.
