tinyurl.com/mdwx6y6 Preparedmind101 does it again! (Buys another knife). After the first XL Voyager, I HAD to get the XL Tanto. This is the one to get IMO. This is going to give that "Crocodile Dundee moment" every time you open it up in sight of other human beings. This one is just fun. This is a "just because, that's why!" knife.

I re-watch this video every couple of years. Great review. Evil exists in the world and even in our home towns. If you're not prepared to defend yourself and the innocent from Evil, it will make a victim of you. So, when I can't carry my pistol, I carry the Thompson signature Vaquero. Being helpless is not an option. Thanks a bunch, Chris!!! -tom

I bought a CS XL Tanto Voyager in CTS-BD1 and I love it. Like the XL Talwar, that I also love to SD/U/EDC, it has an awesome handle that feels nice and secure in the extended grip. That gives you a ton of reach; I love it. I understand that Lynn C. Thompson likes to SD/EDC the, "Serrated," XL Vaquero Voyager; he developed the XL Voyager to be a Fighter. That explains why the handle is perfect. I carry mine everywhere I can. Peace, Stiletto :)

I bought all three XLVoyagers and recommend you check out the Vaquero as well. I got the pain edge version because I already have several of the previous version 6-inch model. And though some have criticized Cold Steel's serrations as being too brittle, they fail to see the tactical applications. If the standard models have any deterrence value, the serrated blades are not something _anyone_ wants to screw with, even (or should I say _especially_) experienced knife fighters. The recurved blade is very well suited for cutting and most reviewers are waving the tanto and clip point models in front of their cameras with no regard at all for the Vaqueros. That's fine if they just don't _like_ them, but I think they're really missing out. If they did some actual cutting tests, they might change their minds -- and perhaps dramatically. Having said that, the tanto is far and away my favorite of the three. I _love_ hollow grind knives for their strength and beauty. Some have said the Vaquero is too difficult to sharpen. Balderdash! My Spyderco Sharpmaker allowed me to restore the edge of my Voyager Plain Edge Vaquero in less than five minutes...well under. I don't know why they're not more people that like them. I also think they look great. -

I just bought one and it arrives on Thursday. I better not be disappointed I don't buy mega folders for practicality I get them for their sheer intimidation factor. I have 2 EDC knives which one is for utility purposes and one for potential defense which is my 4 inch big boy. I'm not sure how EDC of a 7" closed 7.7oz knife will work but I know one thing Cold Steel quality is second to none.
@bloscoe1234

Between my 23 yr old son & I, we have 95% of Cold Steel's folders. You are so correct in the sharpness of their blades. Good lord, I think boxes/packages, etc. rip themselves open when a CS knife is coming at them. I carry the large Voyager Vaquero (serrated) on a daily basis, but will also carry my 6" Hold Out if venturing into town. Our State (NC) has very lenient knife or weapons laws. There's no set length on the folders that are legal to carry, as long as they're not completely concealed...which just showing the pocket-clip will suffice. My son carries the XL Espada & the looks he gets when deploying that monster is a riot. Check out the 6" serrated XL Hold Out. The serrations are brutal!!
@wellingtonblackwell3118
@wellingtonblackwell3118 3 жыл бұрын
I also live in North Carolina. The length laws on knives are lenient. They are more concerned with concealment rather than blade length, which is fine with me. Although I have a Cold Steel 6" Counter Point XL, I will EDC my Cold Steel Immortal, Voyager Large Tanto Point, or my SR1 Lite Tanto Point when I am away from the house. Those 4" blade knives of mine are small enough for my hand to reach my keys in the same pocket. But they are big enough for serious work.

Utilitarian use: this thing is a BOMBER farm, ranch, camp whatever the case may be knife where you need a stout strong sharp blade that can do alot. Like you said it's alot more forgiving than the fulk flat grind of the others so I can bash the shit out of this thing and after YEARS of heavy use haven't had any issues even when I use it as an impromptu flathead screwdriver pry tool scraper etc. I have the serrated version and the bigger blade means you have plenty of fine edge for delicate work but the serrations make short work of rope straps canvas etc Best of all you get a nice sized knife most of the time you'd see on a belt that fits perfectly in your pocket. This is NOT a wear it to the office or in a suite knife at all. It's a working knife through and through

Chris, great vid bro as always and it is an honor to be subscribed to a channel that tells it like it is....like it or not, PM101, Hickok 45, TNoutdoors9....I lost this one among the best. I don't have time or money to waste. I need tools and weapons that WORK, and yes there is a PHYSICAL REASON FOR THOSE NEEDS. I have carried and used the CS Voyager series since thier inception, and I used CS when nobody knew who LT was!! The steel in these knives is made to CUT, not twist, pry or dig. I have used them for over 20 years with that understanding. The tanto blades will perform survival tasks as long as they are respected for what they are. Mr E was right! This is a self defense tool first, but a great pocket knife for everyday tasks. I live in the south, I like big knives, and to me this is a pocket knife. This knife and a Leatherman or SOG PowerLock are my go to gear

In the state of Florida, if I feel my body is in danger of great bodily harm, and or, death, I may legally exert deadly force. I am a concealed carry permit holder. I love knives, and have quite an extensive collection. You are correct in that when a knife is drawn, it is exertion of deadly force. For me, I'm a 61 year old disabled veteran. I'm a skilled martial artist, but I'm real. I'm 61, not 21. I love the Voyager series of Cold Steel. For the money, they are stellar. The Tri-Ad Lock is second to none. The Voyagers will suffice perfectly for edc, and especially for self defense. When I demonstrated my Rawles Voyager at the gun club, my door sized buddy jumped back. They can deploy very quickly, and have a wonderful blade. I've used them in survival training, camping, fishing, and for self defense. If someone is foolish enough to want to kick my butt, I don't play nicely with those folks.

First, I like your reviews. Now, as far as your introduction is concerned, you're right on target. I agree with you a 100%. When it comes to the CS Mega Tri-Ad Folders, they all "ROCK!!!" I own just about all of the 3 1/2" - 6" CS Tri-Ad Folders. And, I EDC these all the time. Though, the one's I EDC the most, are the "Large" size CS Folders... In CA, where I live. We don't have blade length restrictions. But, in a few of the large Cities, Gov. Buildings, and Schools there are blade length restrictions. So, you still need to check out the laws where you reside. So, for me, these are a great choice. Keep up the good work! Stiletto :)

Of the Voyager xl series I might have to rethink the tanto style. For my get home bag while working in the city this is probably a better option. It has a strong tip, and spine. It would be better for battoning than the other model. I'm not likely to need to skin a deer or something of that order just trying to get home, not to mention I can do that with a smaller secondary blade. It would make a good pocket fighting knife.
