I have a voyager as my EDC. It got really hard to open so I took it apart. The bronze washer next to the metal liners actually caused galvanic corrosion. The nylon ones are roached and the bronze ones are heavily corroded. I went and bought replacement nylon washers at Ace hardware and didn’t bother with bronze washers.

Thanks for showing this all the way through I had my xl voyager tanto for about 3 and a half years now and I FINALLY took it apart today to clean it and oil it up and now it drops shut even better and quieter than my cold steel AD-10

Nicely done vid - shows triad perfectly. Lots of good angles 👍Are you sure that the liner was steel? Everything I've read says CS have always used T6061 heat treated aluminium for the Voyager liners 🤔 The liners in my Voyagers looks like aluminium and I think it's one way of keeping the weight down. What do you think?

My apologies, They are aluminum. I either got my information wrong or I just miss spoke. Either way, it is Aluminum liners. And thank you for watching! ^w^

@@damascusthefox Thanks - just wanted to check. Think I was sort hoping it might have been stainless! Tho, in truth, the alu works well and saves quite a bit of weight I'm sure 😉 Great instructional video which shows super-clearly how everything fits together 👏

Aluminum. Mine corroded real bad so I took it apart and sanded it back. If cold steel wanted to make a quality knife they would have made every component steel and an aluminum handle. The knives are $20-30 on eBay. What do you expect

Did you buy this on eBay? Lot of videos saying they're fake. I paid $20 for mine on eBay and it looks identical to yours. So either there's no such thing as fakes or we both got screwed lolololol

I bought mine from Blade HQ. So you probably got lucky with yours. I don't trust eBay. UwU

@@damascusthefox I think most are legit on eBay. When you spend $100 at cold steel their margins are like 500%. eBay seller is breaking even just trying to unload some inventory

@@damascusthefox I took it apart everything is identical except I don't have aus10e stamped on mine. Probably older model

@@kenmastersmaster that a good point, but I still don't like to roll the dice when it comes to buying knives, I prefer to buy from a trusted dealer and support them as well. If you can't find the Steel stap on it, that's not a good sign. I've looked and I can't find any evidence that they used any other Steel than AUS-10A except for the very original, which looks very different than this one.
