This is cold steel, one of the best sword/knife manufacturers out there. Not some cheap wallhanger replica..

You're supposed to push against the hand guard with your thumb first, then pull. If you don't, the sheath will become loose, and cause injury.

It's not "not painted". They didn't traditionally "paint" the blade with clay, they simply applied it in varied amounts depending on where on the blade it was being applied to. And it cannot crack. It isn't hard enough to crack. 1060 steel is quite resilient and "in the middle" of the steel carbon spectrum. If it were above 1090 then MAYBE.

I am sure you could get it apart if you wanted, but I can't guarantee you will get it back together or that the warranty would still be good. You can trust that these are not cheap mall swords. After cutting through a few items you will know and will not feel the need to take it apart anymore.

I'm trying to decide between this sword and the Cheness Oniyuri..which one would you say is better? i want a sword that will last a long time...that is durable and wont get chipped easily...i like the thickness of the cold steel katana but some people say there a joke when it comes to katana...the only other sword i would like to consider would be the Cheness Oniyuri,do you know how well that sword would hold up? i mean cold steel has never let me down before...i need some help deciding, Thanks!

I have a sword made by tomahawk, and it is also 1055 carbon steel, and i was just wondering, is that really the best type of steel for a sword?
@greggpennington966
@greggpennington966 Күн бұрын
For a sword of general purpose use, the mid grades of steel provide the strongest and most flexible blades. Harder steel may make for better sharper edges at the risk of some brittleness ; may shatter in a really hard strike or swing. Choose a steel grade between 1055 and 1080. You really can't go wrong at that point. Particularly for beginning sword users.

Oohhh just enough length if I may say so myself. Those long swords bum me out cuz everyone that's for shorter personabilies around 5'10 and they have very long arms especially compared to me all with longer reaches

That's funny, but probably not as accurate as many people might believe. This blade is mono-tempered, and the fittings are made from cheap materiel. A Katana should be differentially hardened and fitted with solid iron and brass fittings. You can get more for the same price from other companies.

I can’t speak for their newer models but the older ones like shown here were basically spring steel and more like a european sword aside from the shape and construction. The cold steel was my first non-stainless blade and I tossed out all of the stainless blades once I made that jump

Just because it's a superior way to draw a weapon, but the Japanese refuse to do it the right way, doesn't mean we have to follow their standards.
@0rang.utan.bananaman199
@0rang.utan.bananaman199 5 жыл бұрын
Both of you are wrong, no the Japanese did not “refuse” to draw their swords with the edge down, and no doing so is not “bad manners.” In fact, in kenjutsu, there are techniques where the saya is gripped, and turned to make the edge of the blade face downwards, and the blade is drawn from that position for an upward cut from the draw.

In 240 knife reviews I can only remember cutting myself once, and I reshot the video because of it. It was not this one but with the edge on this thing it sure could have been. As I recall, this sword had a edge as sharp and fine as a pocket knife.

I have touched my blades a 1000 times and nothing happens to them. As long as you remember to clean and polish, nothing will happen. Just don't touch it with dirty or sweaty hands. And one last thing, when you do iaido you must touch the blade. Only people who never use their swords say something stupid like you do.
