Next to the Barone Fortress in Šibenik, Croatia is an underground JNA (Yugoslav National Army) Cold War Bunker built as an extension of a WW2 Machine Gun nest.

Pretty cool spots, saw so many sunsets from that fortress without realizing that was under!

Crazy that it's just right next to it. Figure it's a perfect tourism opportunity with it being right next to the fortress but you know how it is here.

This exact same bunker is a part of a big military complex 50 meters to the east of the location, it is currently not used and all of it is ruined and pretty creepy. Today in the complex is a preschool that I went to. Great video

Thanks for watching bro! Sounds much more interesting than my pre school lol. I didn't have time for the bigger complex, but I'll definitely be back. Pula is amazing

@@TattooedTraveler there was also a couple horses but they had to be removed due to the highway below, agree with you on Pula

@Jakov Gulin ah sorry bro, I thought this was a comment on my newest video from Pula 😆, but yeh there's also a German WW2 Bomb Shelter under Tanaja kzfaq.info/get/bejne/kJejZKp-1bmrgX0.html

@@TattooedTraveler i figured that, also i want to mention the reason you couldn't find the entrance below the Bernardi bastion it is due to a powder magazine explosion during the Ottoman siege of september 1647, as it was dug into the ground to minimize the damage in case of an explosion but the tunnels were then destroyed.

@Jakov Gulin ah OK, thanks bro, makes sense. At least that confirms they are real. I thought I found the ones in poljana next to the library but that "hole" next to the parking garage just ended up being an old cistern or they covered it.

Danke - ich war im September 2020 in der Barone Festung. Wusste nichts von den Bunker weiter oben. Da war leider aber auch Baustelle, sonst wäre ich hoch gegangen.

Yeh that place used to be freely explorable until they found out they could extort tourists and only let them in on Disney land style tours. But oh well, it's still cool to look at
@TattooedTraveler2 жыл бұрын
They give them only an hr or so, make them take a boat even tho you can walk, tell them nothing about the history. I love Croatia but the tourism industry either doesn't exist at all or is extortionate. Don't get me wrong tho there are some super knowledgeable private tour guides that are engaging and will give you a great tour of a place, but unfortunately with the mass groups barely any of them give a shit about you and I don't think they even enjoy it. And if they know the history they don't care enough to share it.

you find some interesting spots to explore - to bad more info can't be found

Yeah, these ex Yugoslav places have little to nothing online. But it makes it even more interesting when you find someone with first or second hand knowledge of them.
