Awesome project! as a suggestion: you could also add a polarity changing switch and the user could have cold water or Hot water to make Tea, instant coffee or whatever.

Well, during summer, when it's anywhere over 25C and especially where it's over 35, even getting 18C water available in any kind of bulk is the difference between unbearable and bearable tbh. Putting it in a fridge is an option, but regularly opening and closing that will cost you, both in cooling potential and electricity. I made one with 2 old integrated water loops like the Corsair H70's, but the ones I used originally came with Amd FX-8150s. 1 on the hot side of the TEC with the radiators from both tubed to it, the other with the tubes going to a 5 liter water jug. These integrated watercoolers have a pump integrated in their heatsink, making it really easy using two of the same cooler to put some good contact pressure on the TEC and insulate the shit out of all of it. I added a 5$ Arduino knockoff to the mix to switch the system on and of at a settable temperature.

I think insulating the container in polystyrene foam board may cut the cooling time.

Hi, It's really a nice work. I was thinking to DIY a slush machine in that way (not with the ice+salt), but can the peltier cell go to that temperature (-10/-15°c)? Is it possible to power it with 20/24v in order to lower temperatures? or using more than 1 peltier? Thanks!

LOL i really like your design, however i would take it a step further, and use a polarity switcher so you can switch from hot to cold. I would use this as a hot water heater and use the cooling effect to cool a room down in addition to more conventional methods

ty, trying to make a 5-liter water tank to mount to my water faucet, so I always have 5-liter cold water at my disposal. I guess I'll need an Arduino to control the cooling so it stops at 5C and starts again at 10C, and then insulate the tank well and eventually install a filter to make it taste nicer.
