This is a very detailed overview of Canbat's Cold Weather Lithium battery and how they solved the problem of charging lithium batteries in below freezing temperatures. I specifically review Canbat's 150Ah Cold Weather Lithium Battery which has a built-in heater that only uses power from a charging source, not the battery itself. This saves the battery from using available life cycles and unnecessary wear and tear.
I am not an expert and come by this honestly. This is not a sales pitch, more of a chance to explain the reason why some lithium batteries cost more than others.

Great video, I was not aware of the CanBat brand of low temp batteries, so learned something new today! I discovered your channel due to the "shout out" Jay Siemens gave you a few months back from his channel, and have been watching as a subscribed member ever sense. Being "entertained" is not the number one thing I'm looking for from a YT creator like yourself - actual helpful content is most important to me. But, that being said, the quality of this video from an "entertainment" perspective was first rate! So well done! Keep the quality Canadian content coming.

Question for you, I’m looking to do something similar to your trailer build with a diesel heater and lithium battery on board, but hadn’t planned on solar. Is it realistic to run a 12v plug, lighting, and diesel heater off of the lithium battery without a charging source for multi day trips? If I were to use a dc/dc charger without solar, all I would remove from your diagram would be the Solar MPPT and solar panel correct? And if I wasn’t driving during my trip (ice fishing) would using dc/dc kill my starting battery? Thanks for the reply, appreciate your channel!

Hey thanks for watching, great questions. The DC to DC charge will not kill your starting battery. The Victron unit is a smart unit that prioritizes the starter battery to be charged before allowing a charge to the auxiliary battery. Secondly, the solar is a nice add-on for top up power when conditions are suitable, but not required. It all depends on what size of battery you go with. I can reliably get 70 hours on a 100Ah battery, using my Diesel heater only.

I am not using , just a dewalt lithium, cold in fridge then charge, better performance. You are dealing with fe phos lithium not lithium.

Great video, but come on the prices are outrageously overpriced.... SOK and they are at the TOP tier -- 12V100Ah LiFePO4 Battery Bluetooth & Built-in heater without sale price USD 630on sale right now for USD $430. Volts same specs USD $800. great review BAD product bud.

@@Unakayboating absolutely, and I was expecting some backlash regarding their pricing before making this video. I've had lengthy phone calls with their tech team regarding this very topic and at the end of the day they believe their quality is superior to this low quality / low price market. I can't comment on other specific brands because I don't have any experience with them. I'm sure they are losing sales because they keep their prices high, that's their business not mine. Their bread and butter isn't even consumer market, they focus on major commercial and infrastructure clients around the globe. That being said, I'm not blind to the fact that they are more expensive. But I think you have to look beyond the battery itself and also take in the available support, documents, warranty, technology, convenience, and reliability. If it was just about the cost of the battery itself, then why not build your own?
