Im not from New Orleans but followed the division closely last year. I think the media and vegas are disrespecting the Saints odds. Final two divisional games last year Saints handled the Falcons and Bucs, even on a down year. Love the 1st round RT and new OC. Saints could win the division this year.

So this means the Saints making the playoffs!!! It happens every time they predict to come in last 🤷🏾‍♂️

🏈 As a Bucs fan since 87" I've been Watching our Division since day 1. The Saints will probably win 10 games this year, but the Bucs will Win the division again with 11 Wins this year. Your Saints will be the Top wild card. I actually see the Falcons doing about the same as last year, if not worse. There are too many potential issues and the Panthers will be slightly better. I think the Bucs are gearing up to impress the entire NFL this year. Baker will have his Best year ever with the Offensive line we just created and we made some very positive defensive moves. But, yeah, I agree that the Saints will be a strong 2nd, for sure.

Here’s the thing, completely ignoring Kubiak coming in and fixing the run game, Derek Carr & Jordan Love had eerily similar seasons, only Carr’s was a little better. Both finished 9-8 Both went 4-2 over the last 6 games. Carr finished the season with a 97.7 passer rating. Love’s passer rating was 96.1 Over the final 6 games, Carr’s passer rating was 117.2, Love’s was a 111.6. I bet Colin says “Green Bay has a Franchise QB” & says something insulting about Derek Carr, even though Carr had a better season, acknowledging both got off to slow starts and finished strong.

I agree that Carr had injuries that was a reason we didn’t play well sometimes, but I also think it takes a while for a new qb to develop a rapport with his receivers. So I think the offense will click a lot better this year especially if the OL is better at keeping Carr off the ground.

We won 9 games last year with a shytty offensive line. That same line led to Carr getting killed and a bad running game. If the offensive line can protect Carr better and get the running game going, they'll be much improved over last year.

If Cowherd isn't watching the games, you've only been watching the first quarter of the games. The Atlanta Falcons last year was Top 10 defense in the league, what are you talking about? The offense was the debacle due to the QB situation not the defense James.

Why not provide context when speaking about the falcons? Why lie? Atlanta was ranked 11th in defense top 5 in red zone defense. Our biggest issue in Atlanta was terrible qb play and bad offensive play calling. We beefed up our dline in the draft , addressed the wr 2 spot. Brought in a qb that has thrown for 4k the past few years consecutively and also brought in an OC that comes from the Mcvay tree. You can make an argument that Kirk is the best qb in that division. Were not Saints fan expecting the same kind of miraculous turn around when we signed Carr? Who would you rather have as your QB? Mayfield is on the up and I truly think a legitimate question is: "Who has a better year, Carr or Cousins"? How does the rest of the NFL view our depth at WR?...We "like" our guys, but c'mon man, where do they rank after Olave? Watch Bryce Young make a quantum leap this year.

I'm glad people are optimistic because that means maybe I have a blind spot, but I definitely don't see the same upside that other people do. We haven't been very good since Drew Brees retired. We have the highest payroll, yet not much of an offensive line or pass rush. Lattimore probably gets traded, Ram probably retires. So although I like our first two pics I think it's kind of lateral moves, swapping starter for starter. At the end of the day the team success will probably boil down to the performance of our offensive line. If players like Penning & Saldiveri are good, then we can maybe be a 10 win team. If OL isn't good, nobody would be surprised at 6 wins. Our front office has spent a lot of capital in draft and cap with little return so ultimately I think some fans are concerned about the sustainability of it all. Especially those of us who were fans before Drew Brees where we went through the dark ages and know what this team was before. I think a lot of the team decisions the last 3 years are closer to the old Saints than what we saw under brees and Peyton. And it's unfortunate but the fan in me can't override the objective part of my brain that just analyzes what he's seeing. Like i see people celebrate this draft but we really just traded a top 10 pic, a second round pick, a third round pick, a fourth-round pick, a 5th round pick, a sixth round pick, and a 7th round pick for Trevor penning, Jake hainer and Kool-Aid. That's bad business & if you keep doing it year after year (when you don't have cap) i don't see how you build a contender.

I hope this comes across as a fair assessment of the lackluster NFC South: Cowherd's assessment of Falcons/Bucs battling for the division is probably right. Falcons off. should be better with additions of Cousins, R. Moore & Mooney which should be a formidable passing game with quality QB play & legit threats already there, those being London & Pitts. Their def. will take a bit of a hit this yr losing Campbell & Okudah. One of the drafted DTs & Trice will help fill the front 7 needs. Phillips III should be fine in his 2nd yr on the outside even if I see him better used as a NB. So, mostly positive gains for ATL for this upcoming year for a team that will be facing a tougher schedule than last yr. Cousins should help them to at least around .500±. Bucs had a better than reported off-season bringing in 2 probable future HoFs. Probably doesn't move the needle in wins this season though as they were previously on their roster last yr (Evans & David for those that such a statement catches them from out of left field). Their def. should be more or less the same as last yr even though they let Barrett go and traded Davis III. Expect a rotation of Joe Tryon and Braswell until Braswell can take over opposite Diaby, probably around mid-season. Their 3rd yr corner McCollum & Hall will compete for CB2 opposite Dean. Either young guy should be acceptable to fill the void if a small step down from Davis. On off. their O‐line should be improved with Barton and competition for LG. They brought in McMillan presumably to play slot pushing Godwin to play opposite Evans on the outside. They will also have better depth @ RB with Irving. It's hard to imagine Mayfield improving on last yr, but it is not impossible. That said TB too, should finish the season around .500±. So far, I think Cowherd is probably right. Car will be improved with an up & coming offensive mind in Canales. With Legette, Johnson opposite each other with Thielen @ slot & Sanders coming in @ TE. Young will have more time, too. Gs Hunt & Lewis should help significantly. Defensively, they lost more than they gained. Burns, Luvu & Chinn are gone. They are replaced by respectable Clowney, Jewell & Fuller. Other than Fuller, their replacements are a step down. DT Robinson should add more interior presence opposite Brown with Tuttle anchoring the middle. Their DB room is largely gone (Chinn, Bell, Henderson, Griffin & Jackson all with different teams). So, expect them to struggle against the pass. Overall, if Young can shake off a rough start to his career, Car should be much improved. But I think 4-7 wins but probably last in the division. NO brought in some help on def. Most notably Gay. What?! Not Young? Well, there will be a competition btwn him, Turner & Foskey for play time. Young is likely to start but its not a certainty. At his best he had 7.5 sacks with injury issues. I expect Gay to be a bigger part of trying to maintain defensive production as it relates to the front 7. Adding Kool-aid will be where the def sees an upgrade. On off NO will be better @ tackle. Fuaga will bring some security for Carr. Penning needs to improve, but it does take time for most tackles. They drafted Means in the 5th, brought in Wilson & Morgan Jr to fill out the receiver room. Based on those moves the Saints are at best about the same as last yr. A bit worse @ safety, maybe better @ DE, have a better Sam backer= a defensive wash. The somewhat better O-line and a serviceable receiver room = a wash but with a health starting tackle. If an overall wash and a tougher schedule compared with the easiest one coming into last season, I expect the saints to be a bit below .500. Obviously most those who read this will disagree as the team has hopefully removed locker room problem personnel and ineffective coaches. I'll believe it once i see it.

Falcons should have drafted Turner or brock bowers, with a double TE set, that would have been nice. I have low expectations for the saints, so I’ll prob be surprised this year.. as of now I expect it to be a dog fight and who ever has the healthy qb at the end of season goes to Playoffs.

The offensive line has to show up this season, Carr seemed to click when the line was on point and we seemingly got better coaches in the building this time around. Hopefully things can pan out

Hey fellow Native from New Orleans and Saints fan I'm with Colin on this I have the same standings in our division Tampa and Atlanta fight over 1&2 our Saints flip flop with Carolina at 3 and 4 I'm sorry we have too much dysfunction and disarray from having no offensive lineman all the way to our average QB and bad head coach it may be worse for Carr with no offensive line when he did average with a full offensive line the best thing we did this off season was Kubiak and I'm hoping takes over as head coach! There's always hope but we have to be more realistic we're missing a big physical contested pass catcher we can depend on we have to see how what we have develops we have been in a slow rebuild for years whether acknowledged or not! We know what Kirk Cousins will do with weapons and and Atlanta is stacked making smart moves in off season and draft ! In my opinion Kirk is a better QB than Carr and you know what hes gonna do Carr is too erratic and inconsistent Colin is just being realistic as most of us should be our team has to get some things in order Atlanta has the best QB situation in the NFC south and I think their defense will step it up !!

NO is like ATL in that they have an aging, injured QB and an inexperienced back up. Penix over Rattler, if it comes to that. ATL improved its defensive middle big time in the draft. They got graded lower because of the QB controversy and because they didn’t take an EDGE higher. Carolina improved their receiver corp and their defensive line and they’ve got a higher quality coach that has already had some offensive success. I think if anything the South will be close between three teams and the Panthers will lag a little. But ATL could have easily won 10 last year with a different QB, so I get the ranking.

Bro I’m from Georgia and been a saints fan since Aaron Brooks was our QB. Every year since 2012 Falcons always get the benefit of the doubt in winning the division and fail. When they have low expectations they go off. That’s a 10 win team at best but I’m pretty sure that team is only winning 8 games. Tampa made decent additions so I expected 8-11 wins from them. Carolina at most is winning 7 games. Colin always have something negative to say about the saints.

I just want to say the falcons defense actually wasn’t bad last year the only reason people even make that argument is because their defense couldn’t get sacks and the defense was tired due to them being on the field all the time because of the QB play. And yes it was the QB play the falcons lead the nfl maybe second in turnovers. Most of them were because of the QB. So many overthrows and under throws and just bad throws. Kirk is a QB that can actually put the ball where it needs to be and that’s just that. The receivers were a non factor because the ball was never getting to them. So yeah the falcons actually have a good chance of not the best chance to win this division

If you really think the Bucs are taking a step back, you're a terrible judge of a situation. They played with a backup Center for 2 years, because they held out hope Jensen was going to come back, and they still won the division 2 more times. They drafted the best center in the draft and a guard known for his run block capabilities. The major struggle with the Bucs is they didn't have a good run game due to an interior that just couldn't create gaps for the run therefore our best option was to air it out creating a 1-dimensional offense that is easier to counter. So those two additions plus Cody Mauch having another year of experience should be a recipe for a much-improved run game, plus Bucky Irving joining the RB room is huge, has hands as good as Rachaad White and the shiftiness of Chase Edmunds, with the tackle breaking capability of Derrick Henry. Then there's their new WR 3, Jalen McMillan and TE 2/3 Devin Culp, who is Cade Otton 2.0 making 3 of our receiving core from the same school meaning they will have an upspoken synergy. Jalen is a good damn Swiss Army Knife of a player, he's proficient everywhere and has some decent legs. So, expect some run sweeps involving him and Trey Palmer mixing it up and for Jalen to be a reliable 3rd down converter. Expect him to switch with Godwin in the slot and wide out curls. and this is just all the ways their offense improved, don't even get me started on the defense, all I'll say is that's the best Safety Duo in the League period Whitehead and Winfield. Don't throw deep, you will get picked off. CB/DB was solid even before the Tykee Smith pick. LB's are good, the D-line is solid, only thing they really need to see improvement in is Edge rushers. With all that said, I would pick the Saints as the Solid 2. I mean both them and the Bucs finished 9-8 last year and Bucs barely took the division. So really, it's a 1A and 1B situation per my analysis of the NFC south. Ya'll didn't lose too many things in the offseason, in fact picked up big pieces like Chase Young and imo had a better draft than most pundits have graded. I see the vision with Rattler in the 5th. Once Carr's contract is up, if Rattler is worth anything he will be dangerous. Fuaga is an immediate starter and replaces Hursts seamlessly. Cool Aid will be a choice fit for your already very excellent CB room.

Sorry but ATL was a better QB away from winning 3 more games. To be honest, Cousins was paid to win THOSE 3 games and 2-3 playoff games. Lets not stretch how bad the rest of the division was last year. What did the rest of the division do in the off season the better themselves 3 more games? The balance of the division is already at their ceiling compared to ATL.

New Orleans is a lot closer to Tampa than Atlanta is. I honestly see us either winning the division or finishing second and being a wild card team in the playoffs

Colin literally doesn’t know what he’s talking about. Saints went 9-8 with a new qb, bad oc and bad oline, along with plenty of injuries…ONE game away from the playoffs. We brought in a wayyy better oc, a beast of an offensive tackle who will start right away upgrading the oline (even though still needs work), bolstered what was already a sneaky good wr room, bolstered our lack luster TE room with holker, made our cb and lb room even stronger. I don’t see how they do any worse than last season unless the offense just doesn’t click with the new system under new oc. I think the only thing that can hold us from making a run in the playoffs is dline/oline but I still see us being a wild card team…not last lmao it’s alright tho, this team by this time next year is gonna be playoff ready once again. Only have a couple more weak spots, all 2025 draft picks to fix that. We will be back soon

Call me a hater, but if Bryce Young figures out a thing or two, there is a possibility the Panthers are better than the Saints. I don't think they will, but if Bryce Young takes a few steps, there is a chance. They probably hired a good coach in Dave Canales. We see what he did with Geno Smith and then Baker Mayfield. We don't know if he is a good head coach, but he for damn sure is a QB whisperer.

The Atlanta hype is borderline insane to me. Who is gonna get after the passer outside of Grady Jarett on that team? As a Tampa Fan I feel like it's gonna be a 3 horse race between Tampa, Atlanta and New Orleans, and coming down to the last few games of the year. Tampa is riding solid momentum and a solid draft, got younger, smarter and more physical on defense by ditching Devin White. Plus Evans and Godwin are going back to their traditional roles with Godwin in the slot more often than not. New Orleans is riding momentum from the tail end of the year as well, but I'd be worried about the defense and age. Solid guys but I'm not sold on your pass rush 100%, but that'll be seen. Dennis Allen ALWAYS has a plan for the divisional games and it showed in the end of the year.

Carolina traded for Diontae Johnson, drafted studs in Jonathan Brooks, Xavier Legette, Sanders, and they heavily invested in their interior O line. Carolina’s defense had some decent signings in FA on the defensive side also and they’re bringing back Ejiro Evero who was awesome for them. Carolinas HC and offensive coaches failed their team last year. Canales coming in for Carolina is huge for them. You’re doing the thing where you’re only crapping on Carolina because everyone else is. I do agree with your Atlanta take though as a Falcons fan. We’re not that good imo.
