I was at the "Rally di Monza" and i saw this: start of the stage, very little security, many spectators surrounding the car before the start. countdown starting: 10,9,8 a man not aware of the countdown already started knocks at his car window with a pen and a piece of paper. 7,6,5..... Colin looks at him, nods, takes the pen and sign the paper, 4,3,2,1 braaaaaam braaaaaaam braaaaam push down on the throttle like the devil and goes for the stage setting the best time. he was one of a kind.

@@dumscare3242 - if you were there and followed the man, you know these type of anecdotes are true - he was utterly determined and focussed in the stage but his feet never left the ground and he always acknowledged his family upbringing on a farm, his fans and the opportunity the sport gave him.

I went their. I was 12 at the time, got autographs of my favorite wrc driver (colin mcrae) and favorite f1 driver (lewis hamilton). I was devestated when I heard colin was dead. absolue legend. I will always remember that weekend. on the bright side, I think I was nearby you in the rally area, you must have seen me (I was probably the only black kid their)

Blimey, that's a real line-up of the rallying greats - the Audi Quattro, the Quattro S1, the Mk II Ford Escort, the Ford RS200, the Renault 5 GT Turbo, the Peugeot 205 T16, the Lancia Stratos and I'm not sure, but I think I caught a brief view of an 037. About the only two missing were the Lancia Delta S4 and the Lancia Delta Integrale.

Andrex Z hey sorry it's abut late replying bit I think it was driving for Subaru back in the rac rally when he was in battle with his team mate Carlos with both groups a impreza he was being interviewed by the press The pits Subaru didn't want him to win and they asked him how was he going to Finnish the rally ,,he replyed if in dough flat out

Colin also had a good race in ireland against the likes of Bertie Fisher ,who also died in a helicopter crash , and , if you dont mind , The Real Irish rally driver of them all Kenny Mc Kinstry , who knows where the car is , Sebastieon Loeb , didnt know that.

It's also kind of sad to see that obviously group B cars aren't as driven as fast as they were back in the 80's because now obviously they are preserved machines but at least they are driven and they don't sit in a barn collecting dust but some still are.

He was a fully certified pilot and had his advanced drivers license (the same kind police need) how can you compare the 2 if they're so different, a pilots license is 10x harder to get than a regular drivers license so the fact he had the 2 aforementioned shows how skilled he was, so people saying he was wreckless and killed his son go fuck yourself, like his accidents in rally he had a mechanical issue (in the case of his helicopter an engine failure) that brought it down not some stupid stunt like trying to turn a corner at 135mph with faulty breaks so saying he should know better is ignorant and stupid

It's the McRae R4. His own rally car, and amazing it is too. I spoke to Jimmy McRae last year and he said they will build one more then stop. One car will be saved and one used for events.
