THANK YOU!!!! By far THE BEST step by step "How to make an Abelton beat" I've seen so far. Stellar job explaining each step in detail and why it's importance. The fast pace is actually better from most student. I always loose interest in slow scatter brain torturials.

Hi, really an awesome tutorial! I have a question though, do you maybe have a video about layering/arranging these loops? I'm having trouble as a beginner since there are 2 parts of the loop when i try to arrange it horizontally. and the loop just got cut into 2 pieces. Thanks in advance!

This tutorial is dated for sure, however this is the first video that's actually helped me along to make a beat that I'm after. It would be nice if you could go more in depth as to what different knobs are doing exactly, but this is awesome. It's also helped me with some features I didn't know about such as grouping different inputs. Thanks mate, earned my sub!

A nice and easy way to add shuffle to your hihats at least in FL Studio is to change the velocity of all the different hihat notes. Gives you that nice humanized moving effect. Not sure if and/or how it works in Ableton. But your method is also nice. Personally i dont even use Ableton, but still decided to watch this tutorial, since you can transition most tips/techniques to any DAW anyway. Can always learn new stuff!

Can confirm works really easy in ableton...select all midi notes then there's an option on the left to randomise velocity you can set the parameters for high and low.

I'm confused on the bpm, why is it that I see dnb at 87 bpm for example sub focus and dimension

Hey Alexis, that's the 'half time' bpm, if you double it then you get the full speed - it all depends on how they're programming the beat.

How do I get my samples to show? I can only see Ableton's built in library of samples.

In the browser window you have the option down the bottom to 'add folder' - if you click that and then navigate to your sample folder on your PC it will put the folder there for you to browse through :D!

Ableton 10 Standard will have all the plugins he used in this vid. The intro version is much more limited!

1:39 The program doesn't show me the keys the samples are assigned to... Do they only appear for samples you've downloaded yourself? I'm using the ones that come with Ableton.
