Tsavorite, sister stone to Tanzanite, this rare flashing green gemstone was named by Tiffany and Company who immediately recognized its potential due to its gemological pedigree. Named after the area of its discovery - Tsavo in Kenya, this gem's beauty surpasses that of its green cousin Emerald due to its superior gemological characteristics. Its rarer, harder, more durable and reflects light much better than Emerald.
Tsavorite is a relatively new gemstone in terms of market exposure but in terms of geological history it is extremely old. The rocks in which it formed were first laid down over 2 billion years ago and as such is one of the oldest forming gemstones.The mighty snow capped Mt. Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa, was itself only in its infancy when Tsavorite was already old. What could be more romantic than a superb, flashing green gemstone that was in existence long before the dinosaurs trod the earth.

That laser inscription is something that all should be doing that source, sell and cut stones. That way the purchaser can always identify their gem and for posterity sake as many precious and semi precious stones are handed down through generations. 100yrs from now people will still be able to trace these gems and know where or what (mine\ geographically)they originated and that is something special

The rarest green gems in order are; 1. Green Diamond 2. Imperial Jadeite 3. Alexandrite 4. Demantoid Garnet 5. Tsavorite 6. Emerald Extraterrestial Peridots are rarer than the above mentioned except for green diamonds.

My Mom had a 2.3 carat Tsavorite set in a simple ring mount, along with dozens of other precious and semiprecious gems similarly mounted.

My mother found a stone like this about 20 years ago on the beach, it was covered in mud and she brought it home. We didn't know what it was, but she asked me to find out and it took some time, but I found the Tsavorite Garnet among other green stones to be the closest in comparison to the stone my mother found. It's about the size of toddler's fist. Are there any particular features that can be used to determine for certain what kind of stone we have?

Go to a reputed Le and reliable jewelry store and ask for recommendation of gemstone appraiser. You will pay a small fee to be appraised. If the stone is not worth the money, generally the appraiser will tell you not to bother with appraisal.

Hi, if seller sell around 480-700 usd per carat of tsavorite, is that possibly fake?

It is likely poor quality or fake. If you are looking to buy high quality tsavorite you will want a credible 3rd party to grade the gems. The good news is Tsavorite is either real or not real meaning there are no synthetic forms of it yet so as an amateur you can learn to spot tsavorite your self by researching it on the internet and buying a real but cheap stone for yourself to learn on. After that it's a matter of color and inclusions that will determine the value and you can learn that as well.

I actually like the really nice pale spring green stones, they look like they're glowing, like the fluorescent pigments of a photosynthetic microbe. It's truly an exceptional color you only find in garnet, not emerald, not peridot, not tourmaline. The dark green ones are meh

Lion of Merelani is lighter than your 'optimum range' - it's a better color than the 'optimum'. Wouldn't want to go darker than 4
