I used to watch her netflix show religiously as a kid, and I had a teacher at school who found it funny that me and my peers would dress and act like Miranda, so he started watching it too. He soon stopped and would get closed off when we asked him if he had seen the newest episode, and it hit me years later that it was because he figured out how creepy Colleen’s behaviour was and is. Thankful for him because it inadvertently saved me from attending her live shows and meet and greets.

Her supposed argument was that they couldn't have POC because the show was set in Washington state. Now Washington isn't the most demographically mixed state in the union, but it's also not the least. It has a very big Asian-American population, and there are certainly Latine, Black, and Native American people in the state. It would be unrealistic if there *weren't* POC in a random scene. But of course, Colleen's real objection wasn't realism.

Mentally disabled people are more likely to be victimized by family and are targeted due to the assumption that they are an easy target. I cannot fathom how she possibly thought any part of her Miranda character was okay, without also being a raging ableist.

As far as other parents at her shows, there is a twitter thread from 2018 that the original blog had a link to. In it a guy basically talked about how he was shocked that so many young kids were there and that there were even more sexual jokes in her shows than even I was aware of. One parent did drag her child out of the theatre however one mother simply covered her child's ears. There were a lot of shocked faces from adults but rarely did anyone do anything so these adults are also part of the problem. There were also a picture of way too many dads who were eager to be a volunteer for one of her segments...so yeah.

I didn’t know all that much about her, but by chance I ended up coming across the subreddit that was cataloguing this stuff years ago and was shocked by what I was seeing. This blatant racism doesn’t surprise me at all, because there are a plethora of incidents of her being mildly racist with fans over the years. Dumb stuff like essentially saying their names were exotic. Those sort of things happening once or twice by someone not intentionally meaning to be harmful isn’t surprising, but the frequency of it was. Seemed much more like her true feelings coming out, versus unconscious biases without ill intent. And the way she treated her kids, friends, and fans was also despicable. After seeing that I knew it was all going to come out someday, but things stayed quiet and I forgot about it until all this blew up.
