5:41 is big facts, I thought that my dream schools were essentially my soulmates and I couldn't be with anyone else but I discovered my true love after heartbreak (aka the rebound lol)🥰 also shows that there's more to a school than you know especially if you haven't done any research 💀

I got rejected from Northwestern today and I am crushed. I had all the demonstrated interest, I researched the campus and knew it intimately, I poured my heart and soul into my essay, and even with a 4.37GPA, 1500 SAT, dozens of extracurriculars that I was passionate about, I got rejected. It hurts and I hate this feeling. I hate everyone who took a gap year last year and applied this year. I hate how the SAT doesn't matter. I hate this with a passion.

Hi @Planet Earth, first I want to say that I’m so so sorry that you got rejected from Northwestern. I know that you put in an incredible amount of effort and energy from deep within your heart. And I know that because your application came from such a place of passion that it hurts all the more. And for that, I’m truly sorry. I was recently sent an article that discusses how the college application system and process are broken. With the way they're designed, it’s hard for schools to have a clear, consistent way to decide the “right” students to accept. (And I put ‘right’ in quotes because whoever is considered the best fit for a school is determined differently by each school and when it comes down to it, it is still subjective). I don’t mean to start writing an entire essay in the comments but I do want you to know that your disappointment is heard and that even though this news may change your plans for the future, it doesn’t mean that the future you desire won’t still come true,. it just may take place somewhere different. Also, know that all of your hard work leading up to this wasn’t for nothing. Remind yourself of your passions and what inspires you and continue to pursue those things regardless of where you decide to go strength in those things you can truly find strength and support as you start this new journey.

@@HeyItsIre Thank you for your kind words and acknowledgment. I have since come to accept this, and am trying to get excited about the other schools I have gotten into. They aren’t the most exclusive but I believe I am a good match for them and their programs. I know I will succeed there, and I wish everyone else good luck through these harsh times. Hi Ire!! Glad you made this video. I'm in the UPenn class of '26. My ultimate dream school was Yale and I was waitlisted and then denied. I'm so happy I got into Penn but it's been a struggle dealing with the reality of rejection because some part of me keeps wondering, "what if"?
