Being a Longhorn fan, the “Texas must be such a stressful team” comment is the truest statement ever

Hey guys! I'm a sports writer for an Alabama Crimson Tide blog and lifelong HUGE Bama fan. So I intensely follow the game of football especially at the Collegiate level. I've enjoyed watching you guys get invested in College Football like this. So cool to see people come in with little knowledge of the sport in general and become so knowledgeable in this short amount of time. So kudos! I also wanted to try and help clarify the confusion on the rankings you mentioned towards the beginning of the video. There are 3 main ranking systems used in college football. The AP poll (Associated Press poll, so the sports reporters poll), the coaches poll (literally just what it sounds like. A poll of all the Division 1 head coaches), and the Playoff Rankings (group of people nominated by the NCAA to pick the playoff teams and create some of the Bowl game matchups). Different broadcast channels will display different rankings depending on several factors. The Playoff Rankings do not start to be created until after week 10 of the season. Once the playoff rankings are created that is the ranking used by everybody. Once the postseason begins the only ranking that matters is the playoff ranking. Also, one last clarifying thing that I'm not sure you know yet. There is one additional week of pseudo-regular season football after the full regular season ends. It is referred to as Conference Championship weekend. It is when each conference has 2 teams play to be named champion of the conference. So you have the SEC Championship, BIG 10 Championship, PAC-12 Championship, etc. It is highly probable based on current standings that Alabama will face Georgia head to head for the SEC Championship in December. If all the current undefeated teams in major conferences win out (except the loser of Ohio State vs. Michigan) then there would be 4 undefeated teams, but Bama would face Georgia in the SEC Championship. If Bama wins that game then they would get in the playoff ahead of Georgia. The caveat is whether or not Texas also wins out and wins the BIG 12 Championship. If the OSU/Michigan winner, Florida State, and Washington are all undefeated conference champions and you have Texas and Alabama as 12-1 conference champions, then the Playoff Ranking committee would have to decide who would be out between Texas and Bama. You have probably already been told this, but for the rankings, they use the ap poll until the cfp rankings are released then those are used officially. The ap poll still gets released after that but often falls in line with the cfp comitee rankings.

Yes Georgia had to settle for a FG after that interception, but thats because there was a penalty on the return. The INT counted but they had to go all the way back to their own 20 yard line to start the drive. Awesome video as always guys!!

Not very often my Indiana Hoosiers make the highlights. That was a great catch. The records shown in brackets are the conference records.

The brackets are those teams records against their conference mates. They seem to be in all the FCS game highlights. (FCS is the second tier of college football.)

There are different divisions in college football like in soccer where you have the Championship and League One and League Two. That's why you saw some games with different TV quality, stadiums, and teams

The teams with season record AND Conf record displayed are FCS or Division 1AA. (Football Championship Subdivision) Teams with ONLY season record displayed are FBS or Division 1 (Football Bowl Subdivision) "the big boys".. There are also Division 2 and D3 schools .

the AP poll is the official rankings for every college sport. there’s also a college football committee who chooses who they think is the top 4 teams that deserve a playoff spot. after this year, it’s moving to a 16-team format. great video guys!! always love watching the channel!

The penalty flag on most interception returns is usually - HOLDING - as on side transitions in direction. And it is more than likely the returning team, that has gone from defending face-to-face to seeing the backs of the previous offense.

The games with the bracketed records are all games at the lower level of college football called the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS, formerly I-AA). They are Division I schools, but compete at a lower level and have fewer scholarships than the highest level (Football Bowl Subdivision/FBS) schools. The bracketed records are their conference records. The FCS does a full 24-team playoff where most of the conferences have their champion as an automatic qualifier for the tournament (some of the conferences don't, it is a whole weird system itself). Since FCS teams often play at least one game against a higher level FBS team, most will have at least a loss (this year, only 4 FCS teams beat FBS teams so far). Because of the importance of conference records and championships in qualifying for the FCS tournament, conference records are important, so that's why they are usually listed as well.

The Bowl games take place after the regular season. Each Bowl invites certain teams to play. There are bowls with prestige that invite what they think are the best teams. So, The Rose Bowl, Cotton Bowl, Orange Bowl, Sugar Bowl are some of the Bowls at the top of the list. Then, its a combination of what bowl invites certain teams, and if the college team accepts the invitation. So, right now, expect Georgia to be invited by more than one bowl. Georgia then decides what invitation to accept.

17:20 so there’s several conferences (big ten, sec, big 12, etc) then in the conferences there’s 2 divisions (big ten east/west, sec east/west, etc) the winner of each division play each other in the conference title game after the conclusion of the last regular season game. This game also factors into the record and into the rankings for the playoffs and for any bowl games

Basically if a team has a record in brackets then they are probably a FCS team, which is still Division 1 football but a level below Power 5 conferences.

I know USC’s defense is bad but they should have had a couple highlights of Washington’s running back Dillon Johnson on here. He had over 250 yards and 4 touchdowns. Was a great game for highlights lot of scoring if you guys want to check it out

Georgia has a matchup against Ole Miss this upcoming week, who are currently ranked #10. Between Missouri last week, Ole Miss this week, and Tennessee next week, Georgia's supposedly "easy" schedule is suddenly looking much more impressive.

I don't usually comment but I've seen some people give out a lot of incorrect information. The bracketed records are conference records. Just because the conference records aren't listed at the bottom of most of them, they still do have them. For example, Oklahoma State is 7-2 as their full record and 5-1 in the Big 12. If the conference record were to be listed then it would look like this at the bottom... 7-2 (5-1). The reason the conference record is important is because that record determines who goes to the conference championship at the end of the season. If a team went 8-4 overall but went 8-0 in conference. They would go to their conference championship over a team that went 10-2 overall but went 6-2 in conference. A conference schedule is fixed too. Depending on the rules of the conference, you'll always play 8 or 9 teams from your conference every year and the other 3 to 4 games being out of conference games which are mutually decided upon by the colleges a few years in advance. Going back to Oklahoma State. They lost to South Alabama earlier in the year. Losing to them doesn't affect their conference record nor does it affect South Alabama's but it certain made Oklahoma State fall out of the rankings for a bit.

Brackets are for conference games, and you only really see them in FCS games. You will see them in college basketball. And yea conferences are like the Big 10, ACC, SEC, etc

I like this format better because you got to see UAB and if you do this every week then there’s a better chance of seeing UAB plays lol. I do think for games like bedlam I would’ve liked to see a reaction simply for big rivalry games and what not, but this is certainly more inclusive and I even got to see some great plays that I hadn’t seen yet.

At 11:42 the play was initially called incomplete but they reviewed it and overturned the call. It was a touchdown.

Texas is soooooooooooooo stressful to watch. The first quarter was absolute domination by the Horns. With only 1 and a half minutes left in the first half, Texas was up 17 to 0. Texas had gained 278 yards and K State only has 21 yards. Then... it got bad. We turned the ball over three times, we were called on 10 penalties. The ONLY reason we managed to win was because K State missed a 27 yard field goal with 1:30 left to go. Then ALL Texas needed to win was a SINGLE first down. Didn't get it. Then K State moved the ball 33 yards in 1:17 to kick a field goal to tie it up. K State went for the win on 4th down instead of kicking a FG to tie it up. Not sure if you know who the Keystone Cops are, but we are them. Texas has amazing talent but always finds a way to make games close.

There's a pretty good description of rankings and playoff scenarios below so I'll leave that there. As for records displayed, the ones in parentheses are usually conference records (conference is the work you were looking for Nick, although, it's okay to be confused because some conferences are so big, they are also split into divisions). I think you see them on some of the crappier quality broadcasts because those are from smaller tv networks covering smaller conferences or matchups between unranked teams where the conference record is what those teams care about most right now. Whereas the big networks are covering the big games with ranked teams and the rank and overall record is more important right now. It's really all a matter of broadcaster preference really. On the two point attempt, the offensive team would get one point if, after the fumble, the defense carried the ball backwards and was tackled in the end zone. As for your bit at the end, I won't make you watch UConn...even IF they're getting battered by a ranked SEC team. Not this year anyway.

Michigan penn state is huge game if penn state wins and Michigan beats Ohio state in a few weeks we are going to have a 3 way tie in the big ten east yes damo in the brackets it is division record and that's was the last Oklahoma Oklahoma state match up because of Oklahoma moving to the sec

The official playoff rankings started last week (2nd edition released last night and every Tuesday night 7-8 pm eastern time zone America time from here on out) just look up cfp rankings and it should show the official ones. The rest are just media rankings that don’t mean squat It’s likely to be Georgia undefeated and then Bama winning their respective divisions in the SEC which would put them head to head in the SEC title game. If they go in and beat Georgia I think that’s enough to get them in the playoff over Georgia. If they lose well then they’re just out. However, I think if Washington or Florida state has a loss somewhere.. and bama beats Georgia, it’s possible we see both make the playoff. Also depends on the other close teams to the top 4 as well though I would think.

As for Marvin Harrison Jr. - First off, I am so sad that he was set to come to Penn State and didn't, because IMAGINE Allar with that guy. Secondly, there is no team in the league I would LESS like to see Marvelous Marv at than the Chiefs 😂

So we're not going to mention that Utah won by 50

at end of regular season for college there is a committee that will decide who the top 4 playoff teams are. a 1 loss team could in theory jump a unbeaten team, but I don't know if that would happen here. there have been unbeaten teams in past that dint get a xgance to play fir title. Utah in 08/09 season went undefeatedcand was not in the nationsl championship game. instead a 1 loss Florida team played against unbeaten Oaklagoma, and gators won. and UCf in 2017 undefeated but did not make playoffs, and a major factor in that was strength of schedule, as UCF was the only unbeaten team that season.

I got a kick out of D mispronouncing Kennesaw State as "Kennysaw State." Lol. Kennesaw State University lies within the metro Atlanta area. Their team name is the Owls.

As for college rankings they have an AP poll but really that's only used early in the season. As of last week they use what is called the college playoff rankings. It's a 13-member committee selects and seeds the four teams to take part in the CFP and will rank the top 25 every Tues. As for the playoffs, most likely a one loss team won't get in if there are 4 undefeated teams. Most likely teams in playoffs Ohio State or Michigan Georgia Washington Florida St If any of these 4 teams lose, there will be a lot of talk on who gets in if theres a lot of 1 loss teams. We may get a Oregon vs Washington rematch if they win out and play for the pac 12 championship. This season ending looks to be crazy

I would’ve preferred honestly just picking a single game even if that meant missing out on the others. Highlights are ok but honestly are pretty boring for me personally as they are just out of context moments that don’t really have the same impact as a game
