Also worth remembering that he only retired, like, a year or two ago? There was a lot of speculation (and hope) that we'd get to see him and his son play together. For a running back, he had about 5 times the average career length

Andre Johnson was arguably best WR in NFL in his prime. Definitely worth a look. Definite Hall of Famer. And Frank Gore only just retired this year and is sure thing Hall of Famer as well. Probably had most impressive longevity ever for NFL RB and despite mainly being good not great he is 3rd all time in rushing yards because he managed to be good and NFL level for so long in position thats so supposed to have very short primes. 13 pro bowlers is just insane. 13 guys who became all star players in NFL ... 4 (?) likely Hall of Famers and multiple potential others if not for injuries or death

Miami struggled to beat Boston College and Virginia Tech. The Bengals would have demolished them. I was pulling hard for BC to win that game. If only Brian St. Pierre had thrown the pass that he got picked off on away, I'm confident that BC would have won the game. 2001 Miami was a great team, and I saw a lot of them because I'm from NJ and the Big East was my TV market in the days of regional college football coverage, but I think Florida (Rex Grossman, Jabar Gaffney, Alex Brown, etc.) possibly could have beaten them.

Not only did the players on this Miami team get drafted, mostly all of them panned out to be studs in the NFL. 3 to 4 possibly Hall of Fame level players, multiple Pro Bowls, and major contributors to a few Super Bowl rings. It wasn’t just top heavy with the guys who got picked higher. It was a collective success from most all of the players who went to the NFL, even if they were backups at Miami. Just insane, and won’t ever be repeated.

Great job, lads. It's definitely the greatest all-time. College dominance, stats, winning, and eventual NFL greats make the argument for those Canes. The crazy part is I could make an argument that the 2000 team that got snubbed of the title was better. "The U part 2" is about those teams. Andre Johnson and Frank Gore had stellar Hall of Fame worthy NFL careers. It's all about the U. #GoCanes The Seminoles are our biggest rivals. We had plenty of fights. Our annual game is coming November 11th. It should be another great game in the rivalry.

Ken Dorsey was a career backup QB. Bounced around the league. He had a better run as an assistant coach, building up Carolina and Buffalo’s QB rooms. He coached both Cam Newton (2015 MVP) and Josh Allen to successful seasons. However he got fired this year because of the offense’s struggles. Still, he has a great reputation as a coach and will pick up somewhere.

Damo: Asks if that team had Reggie Bush in it...after looking at a picture with Reggie Bush in the middle. 🤣 This video talks about the Big East Conference, of which Miami was a member of at the time. A good Patreon watch would be the ESPN documentary on the rise and fall of the Big East Conference call "Requiem for the Big East." Its meteoric rise as a regional basketball power, to national basketball power, to national football power, to almost complete collapse as many of its founding members and some of it's biggest football programs (like Miami) started leaving for better football conferences is something else. UConn even left for a time to join the other remaining Big East Football schools in the then-brand-new American Athletic Conference. But as our football team got bad again and basketball was starting to struggle, we went independent in football and rejoined the Big East for all other sports in 2020. Between that and hiring Danny Hurley, I'd say we came out okay. 9:00 - Andre Johnson for pure highlight reels and Jeremy Shockey for big hits and a bigger personality. Willis McGahee (mi-GAY-hee) blew out his knee at the beginning of the following year's National Championship Game (in which they were heavily favored but lost to an Ohio State team with plenty of future pro stars themselves) and this stunted his future pro career but his 2002 highlights as the featured back would be worth checking out as well. 13:24 - Shannon Sharpe. His charisma and outspokenness have catapulted him to media stardom of late. One of the better sports pundits we have right now.

I know this is off topic, have yall checked out Luke Kuechly? One of the best modern day linebackers to play the game who retired early. He was one of the smartest and hard hitting guys I've ever seen play. Yall should check him out if ya haven't. He played for the Carolina Panthers when Cam Newton took my team to the SB.

I should note he didn't retire early due to age or injury, he just decided he'd got enough money and didn't want to risk any sort of injury that might affect him for the rest of his life

No defenses rarely score TDs. That defense was just absurd b/c it had so many elite NFL players in it. Defenses will get usually 0-3 TDs in entire seasons. 3 would be a lot. 8 is incomprehensible and only possible from greatest college D all time.

That team dominated their opponents as few others have. Add the other stats (that amazing draft class) and the 2001 'Canes must be at least in the top few teams considered. We can't run the experiment, as the video said, but they may be the easiest team to make a case for. Plus, Ed Reed. There, I'm done.

Miami was defense U, running back U, and tight end U. 30 straight years putting these position players into the NFL.
