Hey y'all and welcome back to more dumpster diving during college move out! Today was graduation day and we're really seeing the dumpsters FILL up. We got a full truck bed pretty quickly, so we came home to unload and just headed right back out. That video will be up next week so stay tuned!

imagine the campuses just did a campus wide yardsale. kids get some money, and this stuff stays out of the garbage. so much waste every year at every campus.

It seems so strange that the next lot just finds the money to buy more of the same stuff ! - seems a shame it can’t be sorted then put on line for the next lot of students to purchase prior to arrival and then it could be picked up etc. Recycling and preventing some of the exact same things being re purchased! 😊 go team🎉

The college my granddaughter goes to has a separate area outside their dorm to leave stuff that they do not want and then the college stores it for any incoming students the following semester to purchase at a discounted price..

The University of Colorado at Boulder places a dumpster for reusable items. Then it’s brought to a local salvage yard and sold to the public! Been doing it for years!👏👏👏👏👏

I have said this before, but I applaud what you two do. College move-out is one of the most wasteful things…these kids just pitch stuff and go buy it all again in the fall. My daughter used most of her (mostly thrifted) items all 4 years, then we resold and donated what we could after she graduated. My son would be one to pitch it all in the dumpster. It’s all in the mindset of the individual. At least her dorm did offer a “free” area for items throughout the year, but without someone to manage it, those items eventually get pitched, too. You two always leave the area better than you found it! ❤ Cannot wait for the big reveal of all you have found!!

Love that you guys leave places cleaner than when you got there. Annoys me that people can't take an extra 8 seconds and actually toss the stuff INTO the dumpster. Although I guess it makes it easier to go through if it's on the ground!

Those orange 5 gallon buckets are fabulous to plant in for a container garden. Just drill a few holes in the bottom, add a little gravel and some dirt.

Guys, ya'll need to just start pitching bags that seem to have a great deal of stuff in them, and then you can go thru them at home. You can always put everything in a black bag that's trash and throw it back the next day. Ya gotta be fast, efficient, yet stealthy, and clean when diving so not to get caught. Just a DD tip😊. @flosmith1864 Right, even open the black bags, don't just say "Ahh, there ain't nutting in them" cuz let me tell ya'll there's stuff in those bags!! That's the way I do it, and it works out great.

Especially the heavy, slightly bulky bags. Sometimes I'll take them out and act like I'm looking for recycling. I have never been bothered, I always leave it cleaner than I left it. where I dive the recycling is near the dumpsters I can see there's no recycling near those huge dumpsters. Sometimes I'll take a bag and go through it near my car instead of *at* the dumpster.

The colleges that my kids attended, arranged with the local salvage army or other charities to park one of their vehicles near the dumpsters. This made it easy to donate rather than trash items. These guys are dumpster diving at apartment and private dorms that obviously don’t think of doing something similar.

It’s a wonderful feeling seeing what you both are doing saving good usable goods going to the landfill. Then you donate and help others and your garage sales are helping out so many other people and it upsets me when you are moved on by security. I enjoy watching you both on your adventures together. You are both an amazing young couple.

Yeah you look real sketchy when you're nervous and looking around. Just pretend you're supposed to be there. Say you dropped your phone or keys or something. Keep trash nearby to toss in if anyone comes.

The waste is unbelievable. It breaks my heart that these college students are wasting their or their parent’s money. Not to mention what they’re putting in the landfill. I’ll bet you one of those students are more probably get a final paper on saving the planet. So sad. You guys are great cleaning up the mess. You are keeping things out of the landfill. ❤

I hope that I get to do college move out this weekend with my daughter I'm hoping but I just moved my fiance and with me and so his stuff is still in my truck and all over our apartment and he's a scavenger too he loves to do dumpster diving like I do so I'm excited when we can go together and go dumpster diving together so I'm waiting for your yard sale from these videos

Alex and Kelly, Thank you for your campus footage every year! I live for this time just to see what you all find. This was my daughter’s first year of college and I actually inspired her to DD and also take me around to some of the areas. She would call or text me, so excited about what she found. 😊 In my time, my sister and I brought everything home, never thought to leave stuff behind. My mom would always use the food and cleaning supplies. Those foam mattress toppers, can they be cleaned for personal reuse? We saw a lot of those and they’re definitely not cheap to buy. Thank you again…best time of the year for DD!! ❤

Ut at Austin has a sale in the parking lot of Darrell Royal Memorial Stadium end of every semester and every summer. A bunch of Temp workers clean out the dorms. Everything bis cleaned and checked (cords working, etc) then anyone in the city comes and shops. Usually an entire weekend for the sale. The mobey raised pays the salaries for the temp workers and goes into funds for student services (emergency funds, etc). Win Win
