Martin has one of those unfortunate faces where he looks like he'd be a mean guy and hard to approach, but he seems like an absolute sweetheart of a guy.

He was an iconic role in a great film trilogy. It's like Stallone being known as a Philly boxer and Schwarzenegger being a futuristic android. He will forever be tied to that role even though he was in better films in his history of acting.

I used to be a Flight Attendant and one of those who used humor during the safety brief. A few years before Pat Morita passed, I had him on the plane. I did my usual spiel and as he disembarked he gave me a light fist pop to my chest. In his perfect Mr. Miyagi voice said “ good job Steve.” He was super nice and one of the many celebrity positive interactions

A friend of mine met Martin Kove. Said he couldn't have been a cooler guy and didn't mind talking about The Karate Kid even though it was a conversation he's probably had thousands of times.

I met him at a Philadelphia Comic Con. He was definitely one of the nicest actors I've met. A lot of them want to get through with you as fast as possible but he seemed like he was having a great time and wanted to keep talking.

Mr Miyagi is probably one of the best characters, The character had it all, he was funny, he could be serious, very loyal...Nobody could have done the stellar job Pat Morita did

The writing on this show is out of this world. I expected it to be "throwaway" entertainment but it is the complete opposite. Thoughtful, deep, well written, respectful of the original. THIS is the playbook on how to continue a beloved movies series decades later. Perfect in every respect.

I do appreciate cobra kai even though the concept of it doesn't feel like it should get a full show as it got answered before but im glad it did and happened it's separate from the original show making everyone human there has been times where I hated Johnny and there was time I hated Daniel but it also appreciate the original source which most spin off and sequels fail to do so cobra kai is great and finally where it should have been in the first place

@Gorgeous George That's the brilliant part of it. The main characters aren't Johnny and Daniel. It's the kids. Right at that cusp of becoming adults. Their views change, shift, morph. They get caught up in groups. Hell, Hawk's the ultimate example, going from timid Lip that could barely speak up to fighting badass exuding all kinds of confidence, getting good attention from everyone, and relishing in it all. But there was that moment you saw Lip peeking out in Season 2. And now... well, won't spoil it for anyone that hasn't watched yet. But it shows these kids growing and course changing over the entire span of the show. And maybe, those watching, might see that cliques and groups come, go, change... but the only real enemy is hate for someone else. Also shows the world isn't black and white. There's always another side to the story. Even Tori. Hateful bitch she is... there's a very good reason she's got it out for Samantha. You just don't remember it very well because if you blinked, you'd have missed it.

The Jayden movie was great actually. I loved the take on it. The thing that pissed me off was that it was called The Karate Kid when he was training in Kung Fu. Very different martial arts.

Because that movie was mostly made to turn Jaden into a star and it shows. In the original movie we came to know the personalities of Johnny, Bobby, Dutch, Kreese. In Jaden's it was all Jaden (and Jackie), Jaden, Jaden. The enemies don't have character development. That makes the movie plain.

For sure. I was in Wing Chun Kung Fu at the time and our class laughed at the Karate technique. Students came in and we would destroy them, should have charged money for tickets.

Glenside Shotokan Karate Club with Okazaki Sensei's nephew Hiro in the late 80's and 90's. Once a month Okazaki Sensei would come every first Monday of the month for Kyu exams and to teach a class. You never wanted to miss those nights. What an amazing man.

Martin Kove is probably one of if not the best actors in the franchise. Everyone else feels somewhat like their character in the show in interviews, but Martin Kove is just this good natured likeable guy that transforms into a total madman villain with a heart of stone in the movies/show and sells it like that is just who he is. THAT is acting.

Later in the lobby I got up the nerve to ask for an autograph and he was busy at the moment, but he dropped off a signed photo that said, Brian, remember. No Mercy! There's an identical one in Big Nose Kate's Saloon if you ever get to Tombstone. Incidentally, he had a fling with my manager of the hotel and she went back with him to California and stayed there for a short time. I don't think it lasted long, though.

Good one lol, I got to go with "Sanford Son" first time Fred meets Ahchew he tells Lamont you better stop hanging with him you catch the yellow fever and Ahchew off script says so what do you got the black plague and thanks to the magic of KZfaq you can go back watch that scene and Redd kinda smiles as he was caught off guard. I think that the funniest line was when Henry Blake asked him "What's the Korean word for suicide"? With which he responds (and was allowed to get away with it in the 70's if I might add, "that's Japanese, we don't do that shit"!! Now that was funny!!!

Martin Kove is so mesmerizing as a villain it's actually a shock to the system to see him talk so pleasantly and nicely. What an absolute great actor lol

What's funny is that by all accounts, Kove is an exceedingly sweet man. But he sure plays a great baddie! And he plays it with such relish. In the interviews, the cast always giggles because he so mean in the series and so nice off the set, and sometimes it's hard to keep it together knowing who he is behind the scenes.

Cobra Kai despite it's budget was handled SO well, the right amount of nostalgia without peppering it too much and becoming a parody of itself and the characters were handled so well by the writing team...DISNEY take notes, this is how Star Wars should have been treated...instead of butchering the Skywalkers... This series was handled with a ton of respect and I've genuinely enjoyed watching it so far. Can't wait for Season 4!

I've met him twice now and have to say, even though both encounters were very brief...no more than a minute or two...he was SUPER nice. Hands down one of the friendliest actors to his fans.

John Ashbaugh it’s a really good series though. You should be able to get KZfaq Red for free for a month, to watch the 1st and 2nd series coming. I’m a big fan, because the Karate kid movies came out, back when I was in middle school. It’s cool to see these original actors returning to do this. Along with lots of new actors👍

I understand that Martin is actually a trained martial artists as stated in his IMDB page? He played the part of Kreese very well, a complicated bad guy with a lot of issues.

Mr. Kove seems like a really nice guy. Whenever he talks about the Karate Kid world, he seems so grateful to have been such a big part of it. One thing that will always stand out to me about him wasn't the mean Sensei Kreese character or all of the great quotable lines he did. It is a behind the scenes interview he did where he visited the original Cobra Kai dojo from the original Karate Kid movie. And he got emotional because he recounted his parents coming to visit him right in the dojo. It was a very sweet moment.

Despite having passed away...no longer there...the presence of Pat Morita as Mr. M can still be felt in Season 1 & 2 of CK. When they do flashbacks of Miyagi and Daniel there is this tightening of the throat at the exhibit of good values..of the power of goodness and that true strength resides here. So moving. You also appreciate how talented M. Cove is in that a basically nice guy can play the contemptible Kreese with such finesse.

Martin wasn't a lightweight, He played his character so well I had to keep telling myself not to hate him and it was difficult! He was very believable.

Martin is such a good actor. I look at him and I still see the evil character he plays. Then he talks and you realize he’s a good guy doing an amazing job of portraying a villain.

There weren’t many around in the 80’s like Mr Miyagi. I personally didnt get into Martial Arts until I was 30, and my sensei was probably a combination of the two, if that makes any sense lol

I think you're absolutely right they would have loved the show it really did bring back the 80s nostalgia it's always very hard to bring back the magic but you all achieved it with your loved and devotion for each of your characters and I can't wait for season 3 !!!!!

I like Martin Kove after watching his interview. Hes such a good guy and can really pull off that asshole role. Thats what it means to be a good actor. Hes got a good voice too-I can see him being a spokesperson on TV whenever his role in Cobra Kai is over
