Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir Season 5 Episode 22: " Collusion "
Summary: The end of the school year is approaching, and the revolution is rising. Monarch decides to set up a dangerous plan for his secret identity... but also for Ladybug and Cat Noir.[5] Without knowing it, the villain will get help from Lila, who is controlling a meaner-than-ever Chloe behind the scenes. As for Marinette, she doesn't know that Adrien does not dare to tell her a dreadful secret that could jeopardize their relationship forever.

I like how this season as a whole has the theme of the characters just being *so done* with everything. Lila is done with playing around, Adrien and Natalie are done with his dad's abusive traits, the class is done with Adrienette ship being oh-so-awkward, the people of Paris being done with Monarch and EVERYONE being done with Chloe in general

4:13 This is actually a real place. It’s a famous room in Paris catacombs called “La Plage” meaning “The Beach” We can assume that it will be Lila’s lair in the future.

Many people criticized how Chloé just became interim mayor because the fact she is just a teen. However, Thomas explained that what Chloé did was a coup. She took the mayorship by force using the police robots that Gabriel and Tomoe gave her, with them possibly even endorsing her, and having Cerise whispering to her ear what she needed to say to the Parisians, promising them elections to decide a definitive mayor. I know it's silly, but we can't forget this is a cartoon, so normal logic is not applied. After all, we have characters changing their clothes in a flash and other scenes that defy logic and physics.

Yeh, but also everyone in Paris are kinda dumb, cause they all should know that. A) Chloe is not good with power cause her queen bee fiascos. B) Tsurugi and Agreste sponsor the coup so a teenager is in charge of Paris, and no one cared.

Fun fact: In a deleted scene, Andre disowned Chloe and divorced Audrey, and took custody and adopted Zoe, then resigned as mayor. It’s very interesting on why they deleted that scene.

Failed redemption arcs are a thing in stories. Sometimes you try to change people like Chloe and you see that they might be getting better but then just revert back to their old ways and no matter how hard you try only they can make the decision to be a better person and Chloe doesn't want to give up all the privileges she has to be better because she enjoys tormenting others.

In this episode, the name of the akumatized is "Miss Sans-Culotte". "Sans-culotte" was the name of the revolutionnary people during the french revolution. Just for explanation, "Sans culotte" means, word by word, Without Pants. A "Culotte was a pant with the legs cut at the knee level. It was a choth used by nobles. For a new anime instead, I Suggest Black clover. A young boy born without any magic power in a world where every body have. There is a lot of secondary characters and there developement is very interrestin (Specialy for me with the princess Noel Silva but it's personnal).

It's interesting how Chloe never questions Lila's endgame, why she's helping her. She knows Lila is evil, that's why they've buddied up, but she never considers that Lila might be capable of manipulating her just as ably as she works over everyone else. I'm not sure whether it's because she thinks her father, and then her robots, will protect her... or whether, once again, her arrogance and compulsion to be Number One has blinded her to common sense.

Jeez, the fact that Gabriel can completely turn Adrien's joy into horror and depression in a single sentence is just terrifying to me. I honestly love the scene of Rose yelling at them. "You two! Kiss! Now! Or *I* will kiss you both!" I fully believe this threat coming from her. lol :P And with this episode, my hate for both Chloe and Lila continues to increase. All I could think in this episode was "Gabriel! She's pregnant! Leave her alone!" I couldn't help but fear what akumatizing a pregnant person might do to the baby. This was such a wild episode and I kind of loved it for how random it felt.

So this is how I reason why Chloe is able to place herself as Mayor of Paris: The robots she got from Gabriel are the Police Robots they were on about and if she has an army of them or at least enough for a police force then Chloe basically just usurped power using them and Lila's help in manipulation. It's not perfect but it seems to be the most likely reason or way to explain how it happened, though why the French government wouldn't step in I can't say

Chloé's smartness is linked to her nastyness. She can come up with creative ways to torment others. But the truth is she is not much into creating complex plots. That's Lila's specialty. It's no surprising that Chloé got impressed by her in the previous episodes and became more of an underling.

The show made it obvious that Chloe took the mayoral position by force through the help of Gabriel and Tsurugi, it was a coup, and no one is facing her so long as she is in control of the robotic police force. To clarify AGAIN, about Chloe, there was no redemption planned for Chloe in the beginning, people just misunderstood that part of her character is that she will have moments where she will say and do the right thing, but those moments are quickly set aside or forgotten by Chloe the moment she realized things could return to her favor, which is why we only saw Chloe focus on the powers of the miraculous and not the work and sacrifice to be better.

When people ask you, where did it all go wrong? It was this. While I'm not French, I'm pretty sure that the mayor has no authority over the school system. And now Chloe is the mayor... a 14 year old... the mayor of Paris... face-palming any harder would have given me brain damage. Also, the name of the akumatized villain translates to French Wonder Woman, and I can't be convinced otherwise.

I think the best cartoon has to be: Avatar The Last Airbender it’s really good show, and it’s about a boy name Aang who is trapped by the iceberg and one of the girl Katara free Aang and they travel together with Sokka (Katara brother, sort of like Juleka and Luka from Miraculous) to teach Aang other third elements

I’m happy we see Bustier as a lesbian because that was my head canon for a long time. However it’s great for more lgbt representation in the show. The ending really did remind me of Green Goblin saying to Spider-Man “In spite of everything you’ve done for them, eventually they’ll hate you.”

By the way in this episode there was a deleted scene where Andre divorces Audrey and takes full custody of Zoe, I think this still happened just off screen

Yea, I struggled with how to feel about Chloe and her failed redemption arc too. I've had time to think it over, and this one thing that Astruc said helped too. He pointed out that, if you look closely, even when Chloe was on her best behavior she was showing signs that she wasn't doing it for the right reasons. She didn't admire Ladybug because she was a hero, she admired her because she had power, and she wanted in on that power. She started acting nicer to garner favor with Adrien, but when it became clear that being nice wouldn't get her everything she wanted, she resulted back to force. It sucks because she's an abused an neglected child, and her actions are the result of her trauma growing up with a menace like Audrey for a mother. And I really wanted her to be better too. I was hopeful up til Derision that she would turn it around. But at this point it's clear that she just doesn't want that. She has her ingrained sense of values, and despite others' attempts to reach her, she refused to change her view of herself or those around her. She's a traumatized child, and she deserved better, but she also made her own bad decisions and has actively refused help. It's a bit heartbreaking, really. (I did feel a bit led around by the nose, though. It would've been nice to have a clearer throughline to hold onto for her arc, because it was so emotionally confusing. I think it was possible to communicate more clearly what direction her arc was going in while still highlighting the tragedy of it all. But in the end, that's what it is. A tragedy.)

What other reason is there to protect Sabrina while the scarlet akumas were flying around? She can't get personal gain from that

@@_k33l4n_ Good catch, I haven't seen that episode in years. My first thoughts are that either she's acting heroic in order to impress Ladybug or because, unfortunately, Sabrina is an asset to her. She wouldn't be doing well in school if it weren't for her. I do wish we could've gotten to see Chloe push through and be better. I was rooting for it all the way til the second half of season 5, when it became clear that that's not the direction she was going. I do think it's interesting to see a character that could've been redeemed simply choose not to be, because that's unusual in my experience, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't still sad for her.

I love your reactions, but I think you should definitely start binge-watching Winx Club at some point, it’s a great series with a lot of twists however I suggest you only watch up to season 4 (plus the movies) and then stop there because it gets bad

I am not sarisfied that the mayor doesn't face any consequences for his actions. Like he just said, "I am corrupt a liar and abuse my power while making others suffer cause of my cowardice, but since i am rich, i can just resign, follow my passions and not face aby consequence"

Zamber, the scene where mayor Bourgeois resigned would be different. For starters, Audrey, his wife, would also be turned into a balloon by Miss Sans-Culottes and there would be an whole scene where Balloon Audrey would berate André so much that he would divorce her and take Zoé's custody (while letting Audrey get Chloé's) before resigning. However, for some reason (being it to not make the episode too long or the type of message it would give) that part was deleted. Thomas himself said that part was important. In fact, many things that were in the original screenplays and were important were removed, mostly to not make the episode too much long.
