SpaceX Just Revealed New Design Upgrade on Next-Gen Starship Super Heavy!
How do you beat Starship? That's probably the question every SpaceX Starship competitor is asking right now. With its current capabilities, this giant rocket surpasses all others in size and thrust. But hold on, because things are about to get even crazier. A new upgrade for this monster has emerged, and it's beyond anything we could imagine.
So, how will the new version of Starship be different? How will it impact the related systems? Let’s dive into these questions on today’s episode of Great SpaceX.
SpaceX Just Revealed New Design Upgrade on Next-Gen Starship Super Heavy!
Last year, after Flight 2, Elon Musk announced that the current Starship prototypes were the last of V1. Since then, many details about new Starship designs have emerged. However, everything became clear during Elon Musk's April presentation at Starbase.
In that presentation, we saw the statistics of a previously unmentioned version, the Starship V3. This version features significant changes: six engines on the Ship, a lift-off thrust of up to 10,000 tons, a height of 150 meters, new hot staging, and more. The future of space exploration just got even more thrilling!
SpaceX Just Revealed New Design Upgrade on Next-Gen Starship Super Heavy!
Recently, in the FAA's Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), the agency highlighted Starship's new design planned for future use in Florida. In a fully integrated state, Starship may reach a height of 492 feet (150 meters) and a diameter of approximately 30 feet (9 meters).
Yes, at this size, we can immediately recognize this as the V3 version previously mentioned by Elon Musk. The statement also revealed a major upgrade: the Super Heavy booster will have 35 Raptor engines instead of the current 33. So, how will SpaceX implement these changes?
According to recent models created by TheSpaceEngineer, two new engines will be added to the inner gimbal ring, increasing the count from three to five engines. A big thanks to TheSpaceEngineer team for their great efforts in creating these amazing images, which help everyone easily visualize the changes in Super Heavy.

i remember watching SN8 attempting to land when I got home from 8th grade one day, I remember thinking that I would have to be in my 50s by the time we see starships get anywhere close to carrying people, let alone landing on mars. Now I see the rapid progress being made and Im starting to think it might happen in my 20's

The high-thrust 9 engine Starship, would be especially useful for heavy cargo, specifically for Tanker Starship, to carry the maximum amount of propellants to LEO.

Question. If they're making the ship and booster bigger and ultimately heavier. Surely they would have to consider if the launch mounts would be able to take the extra weight?

The heat both on the launch pad,sprinkler system launch pad. The heat on the separation areas of the top of the booster. I’m not sure that will contribute to re-use that well. Due to the damage left in its wake as discussed before. A thinner lighter separation system won’t be heat tolerant. Neither the safety clips. I reckon they mey need to alter landing and launch methods.

Explain to me why there are aerodynamic front and rear rudders on the ship (block2 Starship)? Elon Musk himself compared the landing of the ship, with the free fall of a parachutist who regulates his fall by the position of his arms and legs. And what kind of aerodynamics is there at an angle of 70-80 degrees? It suggests the use of lattice handlebars (Flaps-panel), similar to those used in the first stage-booster (block1 Starship), of the accelerator, made of a heat-resistant alloy and a simple configuration. I wonder what Elon would say about this?

With 2 more engines stuffed into the center ring, is there even enough room for them to gimbal?
@peterclarke3020
@peterclarke3020 11 күн бұрын
Good point. They could gimbal in 3 different ways. 1: As you suspect, with restricted movement - but they would not normally be used that way. 2: As part of a 15 engine set moving together. 3: As an unrestricted center-five - to do that the shutdown middle ring would all need to gimbal outwards, giving the inner 5-ring more elbow room to gimbal in any direction.

SpaceX needs to explore Aerospike engines with adjustable exhaust for the relight to the main booster for re-entry.. An adjustable Aerospike would be more robust and should hve better ignite that then causes a plume of exhaust that is low oxygen aiding in the re-light of the bell engines (eliminating lean ignition that explodes). Furthermore Aeropike engines do not have to be big, but direct-able, eliminating the need for large bell engine direct-able engines and if the Aerospike engines re on the perimeter the will have more control with less thrust..
@michaelmicek

I'm not sure if you're using a LLM for the script, but your form and voice resemble it a lot. This is adequate for a factual article style, but not so much for a news format. I often find myself hearing, but not listening. Because there's no author voice in the script with regards to the key points. This is often called a separate "comment section", where the audience is reminded of or forecast the key takeaway points in a simple voice. I think this might also be the reason why the audience often perceives your videos to be click bait or AI content. Default GPT summaries are pretty much useless because they mimic the same voice without any additional value/context.

Rewording news is fine, if you see them as a news aggregator. But yes, there are multiple mistakes: Saying the Starship V3 has 6 engines instead of 9 while showing Starship V2. Saying the 5 inner engines are divided into 2 groups, of firing either 2 or the other 3 for redundancy. No, the conclusion from their source TheSpaceEngineer was that they could use any combination of 2 or 3 engines in an opposing pattern, no fixed groups. And the title is misleading as well, but that's just what everybody does. At least they mention all their sources, so you can check for the correct info.

Adding 6 engines is not a major upgrade. It is a minor upgrade! What I think would be an interesting upgrade is the technology that is used to create an engine. Instead of using 6 engines then only 1 engine can be good enough to use, and I think I know why 6 engines are used instead of 1. There is a difference in performance when more than 1 engine is used, and yes I know most forms of transportation only use 1 engine, but not all of it uses 1 engine. The shape of the starship is a very old design. I see no interesting upgrades with the design of the starship. All I see is a man who likes to copy other people !!! A rocket is not a new design. It is an old design, and minor upgrades can be added to it!

You know, you've got to admire Elon Musk for his continued play acting in the face of all of this extraterrestrial technology being brought to the surface which makes nearly every aspect of his SpaceX endeavor obsolete. Basically, Mr. Musk is perpetuating the chemical propellent for propulsion farce alive as a kind of high-tech welfare program for his obviously self-deluded employees. On the other hand, if these people can accomplish what they've accomplished with all of this antiquated, really primitive technology, it gives one the impression that once these folks get their hands on some advanced technology, we could be going to Mars a lot sooner than anyone thought possible, and we'll be a lot more comfortable once we get there.
