DINOSAURS had the most amazingly depressing final episode, though. They accidentally triggered the next Ice Age that would extinguish their species and the last shot was the first snowfall of that Ice Age. SO DARK.

Dinosaurs, I remember that, a show meant for children however the series ended with them freezing to death in a post apocalyptic nuclear winter.... Sleep well children...

Endgame making billions “clearly means that it was great”, and not the result of misplaced hype, and that superhero stories shouldn’t be about “saving the day” and “defeating evil”, but about justifying genocidal villains and saying that if you’re not a “normie”, you’re not allowed to have a happy ending!

Octy I love your videos when you release them. Do what you need to do to, they are unique and entertaining. 4 mins in and loving this one already. Also the NES was a terrible idea for a virtual colouring book; it's at the absolute bottom of the pack for colour fidelity, even below the Sega Master System. 4 colours per 8x8 tile, and 1 of them has to be transparent. And those 4 colours can't be just any colours either, there's a technical limitation to which ones are available for a specific tile at any one time. And because all the tiles have to share the same palette so you can do the flood fill thing, that's why the selection of colours is so crap.

I used to collect those dinosaur mags as well. They use to have these little plastic bones and when you collected enough of them would form a glow in the dark Tyrannosaurus Rex skeleton. Thanks for the nostalgia trip, Octy!

Tommy Tallarico made the music for this. He also made the music for that Aladdin game. :) Another World, Cool Spot, Earthworm Jim and EWJ2, all around this time. Also for Treasures of The Deep, which is an underrated score. Quite the career, including this thingy... :)

Great to have you back! Loved it. But... HEY "Dinosaurs" was awesome! But then, as you alluded to, EVERYTHING with Dinosaurs is great. So this game is automatically in the top ten NES games. The Jurassic Park game is at least 1 place above this one though.

I know that the NES had limitations in terms of the number of colors it could display at once, but the colors they chose are only _technically_ better than a ZX Spectrum.

This game came out the year after The Dinosaurs! a noted PBS documentary concerning the then modern theories on dinosaurs with animations that people can still view today thanks to KZfaq. To borrow a phrase, this is not what I was promised in that either.

Honestly if my parents bought me this as a kid I would have worked extremely hard through school, got good grades, went to college, then to uni. I would have done what I could to make a success of my life and to get myself a highly paid job. I would save and invest until I had enough to start my own business. Years later after making millions I would visit my parents telling them a decision they made was instrumental in the path my life took and that I would be rewarding them. I'd arrive at their house, ask them to come outside to my Bentley, look at the excited look on their faces as I open the boot and then hand them a shitty colouring book.

Around the time that this came out, I was more into Designasaurus on the computer. No coloring, but you got to build a dinosaur and unleash it upon the ancient world.

It's almost as if they were like, "well the parents won't return this awful game if the kids use the coloring part of the instruction book." A truly awful "game" but at least this fun video game from it. Great job!

That Dinosaur binder brought back so many memories. It's made up of monthly magazines. Each magazine came with a piece of plastic. You built these plastic parts into a glow in the dark T-rex skeleton and then some green skin shell to go over the top. Was that a Nintendo game recommending recording LPs? So Nintendo has got worse. Nice Terry Easter Egg there.

I remember reading that he was homeless and living under a wharf when he first managed to get work as a game musician, which I suppose was around the time of this game. He did the music of Muhammed Ali Boxing for Mega Drive in '92 also which I liked. He was certainly using the music of Survivor , famous of course for Rocky III's "Eye of the Tiger" and who also did Rocky IV's "Burning Heart", as a guide.

I loved that show Was a huge sit with my family Masterwork puppetry too, the technology on display was phenomenal. I completely understand why so many people hate it but i like to point out the credit it should get.

The dinosaur type figures remind me of the disfigured disturbing images in the £land colouring books.... To be fair the NES wouldn't really let you save or print... that easily anyway. I was thinking image capturing on a PC to be honest.

Thank you! I really enjoy the humour in your videos and their tone. This game looks like a game made very quickly with a minimum budget, rushed to sell as much as possible before people realize it's awful.

It's nice that they didn't bother to do some basic pixel editing to group body parts. Y' know so when you fill skin colour, it fills in all the areas of skin instead of skipping a toe or finger or foot. Nintendo Seal of quality.
