Absolutely! It doesn’t nail it every time but certainly makes it easier to get to a starting point. And under the intent you can also try the options other than perceptual. They can give slight variations on the average colors.

Either of those approaches can work great. There really isn’t a prescribed method. Sometimes if I know ahead of time how I will color grade I will make minimal adjustments in Lr and this gives the most latitude in Ps. Other times I have done heavy edits in Lr and Ps already and then decide I want to apply a slight color shift towards the end of the process. If you open as a raw smart object, then you can also go back and forth between Lr color work and Ps color work until you get just the right combo. So many possibilities. 😁

I don’t have a good way to fine tune. Apparently Tony is somewhat limited in what the code allows for here.

Color grading is about changing colors, so the Hue is likely going to shift when you do it and a shift of +/- 10 is almost imperceptible. Anything less than that and you're not going to see much happening in the image. So, I'm not sure why the Hue shift would be an issue given that it is precisely the reason for color grading in many cases. Regarding saturation, color grading is accomplished using a Curves adjustment layer, and anytime you increase the slope of the curve, saturation increases. That's just how a Curves adjustment layer works. One way to lessen saturation changes is to NOT adjust the brightness slider when you adjust a tonal range's color. Just make color adjustments using the color wheel. Both highlights and shadows color adjustment done by clicking on the color wheel actually DECREASES overall contrast by DECREASING the slope of the individual color channel curves. Adjusting the color of the midtones by clicking on the color wheel is as neutral WRT saturation as I can make. The slope of some color channel curves increases, but others decrease depending on what color is clicked. That said, saturation shifts are often exactly what is desirable with color grading. Many photographers do color grading specifically to ADD saturation in specific colors. So, again, I don't necessarily see saturation shifts as being undesirable. That might be exactly what is intended, and the color grading feature makes it relatively easy to accomplish. You're more likely to see excessive or unexpected saturation shifts when you start adjusting the Brightness slider in conjunction with adjusting hue/saturation by clicking on the color wheel since a Brightness adjustment is more likely to increase the slope of the curve, which increases overall saturation. One way to avoid saturation from Brightness changes is to change the blend mode of the Color Grading layer to "Color" instead of "Normal." This will transmit the hue and saturation changes based on where you clicked on the color wheel to the image and basically turn off adjustments that involve Brightness/Contrast that happen with the Brightness slider. Then add a Levels adjustment layer in "Luminosity" blend mode to fine-tune the overall contrast w/o affecting color. I think many photographers will find they can easily create a desirable color grade that includes hue, saturation, and contrast on a single color grading layer, but by using blend modes, you can accomplish the color changes on the Color Grading layer and the contrast changes on a Levels adjustment layer independently. The color grading layer is the only place you can do the hue and saturation changes with one click and experiment with alternatives by easily clicking elsewhere on the color wheel. So, if you need finer control over contrast/saturation than the color grading layer can provide, I'd still recommend using the color grading layer for the hue and saturation adjustments with Color Blend mode.

@@SeanBagshaw hi Sean. It’s when I try to save the colour grade after I’ve sampled the colours and made alterations to the settings. I click on the preset icon to save it but nothing happens, the options that appear in the video don’t appear.
