As called out in another comment, color touch usually does not improve the grade of a comic in the middle and low ranges, and is unlikely to fool someone looking on a ultra high grade book. If you are going for an improvement in how a comic presents FOR YOUR PERSONAL books (not for resale) then use water color pencils. And make yourself a note calling out what has been color touched so a future owner will know what was done. Markers and paints will likely bleed through. Even printers tube inks can bleed through if not applied with a professional hand.

Great video! It always baffled me, why some people color touched books that were already lower grade (like this one with a still visible long 4 inch crease on the cover right side) and not super valuable. Was it to ask more money at resale or just for someone's personal collection to make the book "nicer".

As a silver age kid, I was tempted to do color touch to older books that I acquired that were not in the condition that I liked. I never did it that I can remember; but I have a DD #1 that the cover became detached even though that book was in very good condition. It really bugged me, so using my youthful wisdom, I scotched taped it on. 50 plus years later, I sent the book to CGC and got a 3.5, mostly because of the tape. As a kid, I had no idea that anything like CGC would exist, and I wanted to make my comics look good. However, I assume that there are those who color touch their covers, for more nefarious reasons.
