Color Transfer is a bundle of 3 original Max for Live devices:
1. Timbre Resynth
- Resynthesize any sound using the timbre of any other sound in real-time: this is a never-before-seen effect yielding unlimited sonic exploration.
2. Cepstral Morph
- An esoteric morphing plugin with unique phase blending modes, variable FFT sizes, and more. Seamlessly explore the spectral canvas of any two sounds.
3. Formant Shifter
- Shift the formants of anything: whether the input is monophonic like a vocal, polyphonic like a guitar, or complex like an entire song, the Formant Shifter is suited to handle all such cases.
Color Transfer offers musicians near infinite means to splatter paint with the color of sound!
PLEASE NOTE: these are Max for Live devices, and as such, they will only function within Ableton Live 11.1+. See the product page for more information regarding system requirements.

I don't think the people complaining about the pricepoint realize how quality and unique these devices are. Funny how at the same time there are others saying they're considering changing daws for these. There are countless popular plugins that do less than half of this for well over double the price. When Im less broke Im certainly picking these up.

Bought these a few days back and just been resynthesizing everything with everything ever since... So many interesting results. What a fun and simple way to get super interesting textures going quickly. Congrats on the release 👏👏

Wow, these sound absolutely amazing. I've been in a pretty grim economical situation for the past couple of years, but if I ever get a hold of some spare change I'll do my best to keep these in mind. Can't wait to try them out!

Please make a demo with more sounds used. A little variety of basic stuff and even weird stuff just to show capabilities would be great. A basic up and down automation for the parameters could be good or just doing it manually. I’d have tested it already if it weren’t so expensive. Sounds great so far.

bought it! told myself i didnt need it, (i dont) waited a few days, bought it anyways. its a lot of fun. congrats on the release. Looking forward to more devices. Pro tip for those experimenting, use some resonance suppressor (soothe, reso, etc) and a fast compressor after the timbre resynthesis to help tame some of the craziness.

also, in case you are taking request, would be really cool to have options for the reinforce slider in timbre resynth. imagine a wavetable loader in there with a simple scanner lfo.... speaking of lfo.. what exactly does the LFO in timbre resynth effect??

I'll consider your suggestion going forward :) The LFO affects the speed at which the input signal is resynthesized and it allows you to synchronize this speed to your session's tempo. Hi @@myscreenrecords! Thanks for your suggestion. Unfortunately, RNBO is pretty limited in scope at the moment so a direct "conversion" is not possible. RNBO only has a fraction of the objects available in Max and has no support for things like building UIs, jitter, and many other features full Max offers. The scope of Color Transfer far exceeds what is currently possible with RNBO. That said, these are commonly requested features C74 is well aware of and will hopefully implement at some point.

I've mentioned this a few times but one day I hope to get into proper VST development: I'm a ways out with my current skill set but when I eventually close this gap, I'm gonna try my best to port it over. Funny enough, FL Studio is my main DAW, so I have plenty of incentive to make this happen!

Totally not required! It just depends what kind of sounds you're trying to make: morphing tonal and atonal material together can often be very interesting!

I know the info says it only works with ableton live 11 as they're max for live but i also have max for live with ableton 9. Would it work on 9?

Unfortunately no, the devices won't work in Ableton Live versions prior to 11. There have been many updates to Live since version 9 that have made the development of these sorts of devices possible (ex. multichannel audio routing).

Great work! Could I play a Kontakt choir singing an ‘ah’ and basically vocode my own singing of lyrics? I can do this somewhat with Ableton’s vocoder, but it’s only intelligible once your mind already knows the words to look for. If your devices could make me sing with such a choir voice/color, intelligible enough for anyone to understand at first listen, please demo that. Thanks!!!!

It's coming! Was super sick for a while during and after release (you can hear it in my voice in the Utilities Window Tutorial lol) and as such, the Morph & Formant Shifter tutorials got sidelined. Where one only allows you to morph in a single direction between two inputs, the Cepstral Morph gives you 2 dimensions to explore via its XY-pad. The Cepstral Morph also features an Intensity knob: this parameter lets you precisely balance the pitch and timbre information of both inputs. It's similar in nature to a vocoder's bandwidth! Also unique to the Cepstral Morph are its phase blending modes which even further extend the possible combinations of the two inputs. Finally, the algorithm used in the Cepstral Morph is fundamentally different from others and it has its own sound as a result. The above comparison is, of course, only between one of the devices in the bundle. Also included are the Formant Shifter and the Timbre Resynth. The former is a fully-fledged device in it own right and the latter is an *entirely new* way to bring two sound sources together. It sounds amazing and its probably worth 100.-. But the simple reality is, i dont want to spend 100.- on it. I need the money for other things. 50.- would be something i would definitely consider. 25.- pretty much is a no brainer. I can imagine for 25.- you sell way more than 4 times the amount of now. Or am i wrong?

Programs that don’t include samples typically don’t take up a lot of space unless they’re poorly optimized. 100 is not a bad price for the amount of work that went into this at all.

Hey! I appreciate you voicing your thoughts. I did my best to set a price which reflects the years of work I put into development and the creative utility these devices provide all while bearing in mind their exclusivity to Ableton Live. Nothing in the world does what the Timbre Resynth can do, and the other two devices offer you features seen nowhere else. I'd also ask you to consider that plugin companies often charge up to 3 times the price of my entire bundle for just one of their plugins. I hope this clarifies my thought process!
