Undercover cops should not be able to make traffic stops- it blows their covers! But first, police should not be allowed to abuse their power. I’ve been pulled over and ticketed by one. I’m pretty sure he gave me the ticket because I insisted he called back up because I didn’t believe he was a cop. I got ticketed largely because I inconvenienced him.
@maxrobinson42163 жыл бұрын
It’s not an undercover car. It’s a government car. Have you ever seen a car that says DEA or FBI or CIA on it? Every single DEA agent and I mean every one of them are given a car. A normal car like the one you drive. It’s not under cover.

Regarding your point about the use of Federal vehicles in traffic stops, the reason they aren't marked, is that DEA, FBI, NSA, CIA, ect. agents are not supposed to be making casual V&T Traffic stops. What Laws would they be enforcing, being that V&T Laws are enumerated by the States? In New York, State Troopers and local Police are also prohibited from using unmarked vehicles for routine traffic stops. (9 CRR-NY 5.35) The law came about primarily due to impersonation.
@maxrobinson42163 жыл бұрын
@@jerrycny5519 in Colorado it is legal to use unmarked cars. It is also legs for federal agents to conduct traffic stops.
@jerrycny55193 жыл бұрын
@@maxrobinson4216 I understand many states actively use unmarked vehicles for speed/V&T enforcement. Federal agents are not involved in V&T Law enforcement. Again, those laws are relegated to the States. The issue is not whether it was legal, but under what circumstances was it performed, what was the causation? Many things are "legal" . He also will have to file a report on why he unholstered his sidearm. I would like to see the justification. I guarantee that agent won't be doing that again anytime soon, if ever again. Law enforcement, particularly Federal Agents, with their educational and training background, should be held to a HIGHER standard, not more relaxed one. I have the utmost in respect and honor for Law Enforcement. I used to work in the field myself and have both a retired Asst. Chief of Police and County Judge in my family, and I am a member or the NY Bar. What DOES upset me is Officers that do asinine things like this that give the good men and women in the field a bad name and reputation. One bad Officer can ruin things for an entire Department's reputation and those that work with them.

I was hit by an undercover border patrol officer about a year ago while I was working for a taxi company. He was following a suspect and never even seen me. Cops let him go and treated him like an angel even though I recorded him admitting guilt. Our system is broke. Period!!
@nmbr5ml Жыл бұрын
They kind of had to let him go. Getting into an accident and admitting fault isn't a crime.
@jamescountrymansr.949 Жыл бұрын
No your absolutely wrong. I had him on camera. He admitted to me that it was his fault. Actually when the police arrived he lied about him being on a phone and driving at the same time. That is a crime. Personally, it's not much of a crime but, that's not my point. I've seen this all my life. The favoritism and having a blind eye when it comes to law officials needs to stop. Admittedly, there is corruption in many forms and in many occupations but, when it comes to holding a position like a policeman, you need to follow the same rules and laws as the citizens you are also holding accountable.

Johnny DEA's mugshot shows me a drunk or high person with those eyes. Also, I was born here, and my "accent" sounds more like a 3rd generation Polish guy from Chicago than anything else. (Think Dennis Franz). But if I had a nickel for every time someone asked me "So, where are you from", I'd be rich. More often than not it's not malicious in any way, rather it's an inquisitive person asking b/c my name doesn't necessarily match w/what they'd think, and I'm of mixed ethnicity so I could pass for 5-6 different ethnicities...but sometimes it does piss me off, and I want to say, "Where the fuck do you think I'm from?" Sometimes I'll just tell them in an even more exaggerated Chicago accent, "I'm from Chi-caw-go, I thought it'd be obvious" and then watch their confused and uncomfortable face. Lol. That, and, "What's your nationality?" "Uhh...American?" SMH.

Classic misuse by a DEA agent who was not acting in his official capacity. He is an LEO with arrest power and DEA agents will make traffic stops especially if they are deputized state which would give them police power to make traffic stops for observed violations. If he had a problem then he should have picked up the phone and called for a marked unit to respond. Then, this never happens and he isn't in jeopardy of losing his job.
