good work , like the FP off center, better for the views. I assume it is a FP.

Nice home. On the vaulted trusses what was the height above plate? In 80113 oc Colorado we are now having to meet the new Rvalues and those heels are typically 12” plus or higher now. Throw in a max ridge height allowed(Bulk Plane) and that wall/truss connection become critical to plan for in design.

I love these walk-throughs. I'm a DIYer and these give me such great inspiration along with helping me see my own mistakes here and there. - one question, I see the laundry area: why did they run horizontal pipe for the washer drain? I assume something below but then the vanities drain just behind? Also, the dryer vent elevated -> stackable unit? blocking washer air vent? I suppose this is all minor stuff and not the point of the video so I'll end with thank you again for the inspiring material

What was done structurally for the huge shear on that outer wall?

What is the snow load strength and wind rating for the trusses?
@stevenbaczekarchitect9431Ай бұрын
They are a "designed" component - what loading do you want? Hardest part is paying for it!!

This house needs a central vacuum system.

What’s the reasoning for the tight framing spacing on the rake wall? I noticed the zip sheathing up in the attic space didn’t get taped; would that be critical from an air barrier perspective?

Stiffness of the wall with the large cutouts for the windows would be my guess

I’m also curious about that closely-spaced framing; it doesn’t seem to me like it’ll accomplish anything, other than possibly spreading the shear load out to a larger number of screws, to somewhat make up for them passing through a layer of foam. As to the taping of the Zip, I assume you’re referring to the previous video with the outside walk-around. I noticed there that the attic (truss) section is different pieces of Zip from the rest of the wall, but it did appear to all be taped. I was curious from that previous video why they did the sheathing that way. Why not wait until both the wall and the truss are in place, and then put the Zip on, all the way to the top?

What I was wondering about is that one solitary window up high on the rake wall. Were there plans to be more but they were eliminated for structural reasons? The asymmetry is unusual.
