Lori, I love your works. I have been coloring since 1978. I still have a full Berol set from my mother, untouched. I have another gifted set well used and loved, when I purchased a NEW 150 set, I was shocked at the quality loss. My heart breaks for those who will never enjoy the quality of having Prismacolors made in the USA. Like you I inherited mothers and great aunts pencil sets, they were Eagle. I am now a feisty 73, I am grateful for your tutorials, patience and understanding. I have forgotten so very much, thank you for the refreshers. I look forward to more, visiting with your site and videos almost daily. I am so glad you stopped the screen “flipping” made me want to barf, sorry, medication. Thanks again!

Hi Lori, I love having your videos playing as I color, you make for great company & I get quite a few good ideas, tips & techniques! I'm advanced+? I grew up in a family of artists, most of us have our own studios. I currently have an etsy store, selling items I craft (Breakfast at Tiffany's style tassel earplugs & sleep masks). Due to a genetic medical condition, I've been mostly bed bound for over a year, so I spend a lot of time coloring, drawing, sketching & such. One side of my bed has evolved into a mini art studio & library! I gotta say, over this time, & watching channels like yours, my colored pencil game has vastly improved! I'm a thorough adult coloring book addict now & love every minute of it~ Thanks for hanging out with me when I color : )

Beginner/Intermediate? Who knows? Some days I can capture lightening in a bottle and other days I end up with a beer can! Through your tutorials over the last 3 months I think I have the Texture game down pretty cold. Translucence? That's above my pay grade! It is the background which still has me stymied. Don't quite know what to do with all of that space and not so sure I have the patience to tackle that daunting task with my Beginner/Intermediate skill level. But, Lori, I am determined to grow up and be just like you one day!

I'm very much a beginner!! I've learned alot from your videos. I can see why you are teacher, you do a fantastic job! Seriously!! Thank you so much for all of your advice and techniques. The only thing I can say that I wasn't liking was sometimes when you are showing certain colors or techniques is you go out of frame. But hey with everything I've learned I can watch you all day. Out of frame and all. Lol. I'm sure camera work isnt your forte Art is and that's why I keep watching. Truly Thank You so much for taking your time to help the rest of us get out on paper what's in our hearts. Much 💗 & happy coloring.

Thanks Lori. I actually just ordered the Tender Enchantments book so I could follow along. I love how you spotlight one technique in each video. Very helpful. The one technique I struggle with is light source shading. I'm okay with overlap shading. I never thought of waiting until the picture is finished to add the highlights and shading. I think that will eliminate the confusion. Using an eraser rather than a white gel pen or pencil is brilliant.

I see the sense in how you did that sheer fabric. As for my coloring level, it is hard ti say. Sometimes I manage what I would consider intermediate techniques and am very happy with the results. Other times things don't work out so well and my results look very beginner level. I've only been coloring a few months, and have limited budget for materials, so I guess that's to be expected. I like both beginner level videos to learn the fundamentals, and more advanced ones to stretch myself. Thanks again for sharing your skills.

I have a few videos on creating the illusion. It's not that hard. If you are creating glass you use the colors from your background and add the proper highlights onto the glass. Sometimes the colors are slightly tinted or lighter or they may be a drop darker than the background depending on the lighting of the picture. For wings you are looking for muted versions for a darker translution or if you are doing a translucent white wing you would add white over the colors. As long as the wing matches the background you get the desired effect. Hope this helps.

Hi this is very pretty Lori. This book is so adorable isn't it well I don't know what level to tell you where I'm at because some things I do so much better than other things. I like to do people but I do need help with shading. I've been coloring for a little while now but I don't know where to say I am. I know I'm not a beginner I believe my Works look very decent I also know I have a long way to go. There's technical things that I don't know such as the color wheel color theory all that stuff. I am self taught so that means I'm all over the place. I'm here because I want to become an excellent colorist. I'm a long way from that, so I'm here to learn and to enjoy myself while I'm learning. Thank you so much.

Color My World Lori, I don’t think Sabrina meant your physical movement is too much, I think she meant your editing of the screen changes, like the screen will fold in on itself and then back to its original screen, it is confusing and breaks my concentration, I can’t think about what you are saying or showing us, because I’m fretting about the screen moving and changing again. I’m sorry if I hurt your feelings, it’s the last thing I would want to do. Thank you ❤️.

I am a beginner with colored pencils, I've been working with them about 4 months. I did a fair amount of coloring with just gel pens the past few years, but wanted to create more realistic pages so I am trying colored pencils. I struggle with shading, shadows and highlights, not knowing how to apply these to all items on the page. Should every item have a highlight even if not directly in the light's path. Can shading take the place of highlights when item is away from light. What color should the highlights be or should I just use the eraser (love the battery one!) to remove color. So many questions! I am delighted that I found you and I enjoy your videos always.

I began coloring in March of this year when I found Jennifer Stay. Very much a beginner with a rather heavy hand that I can't seem to lighten even at the back of the pencil?!
@ColorMyWorld6 жыл бұрын
It's actually easier to use a heavy hand. You need to train your muscles to go light and once you can feel the difference you can use pressure as a tool. Go to hobby lobby or any place that sells material. Get a small piece of velvet and then practice on it moving the hairs without touching the bottom. Works every time. Do it everyday for a few weeks and you will build the right muscles.

I always suggest a child's coloring book.
@ColorMyWorld6 жыл бұрын
What would be your reason behind recommending a child's coloring book over an adult one?
@debbiecamp22056 жыл бұрын
For their first try. I messed up a lot when I first started. And I only suggest it, I don't readily recommend it. "If you don't feel comfortable with one of you good books, try a child's coloring book." I tell them.
@ColorMyWorld6 жыл бұрын
I tell people to have a child's book or a dollar store book to test out pencil combos, but would never tell an adult to actually color in them. My reasoning is that the pencils are expensive. My books are full of pictures I just didn't like so I didn't finish them. Sometimes I start one, then stop feeling it and put it down. Then in the future I may go back to it.
