Here is a very quick video answering one of my subscribers questions about highlights. This is the simplest method and always works.

You are absolutely right about life being WAY TOO short to not use the china! I grew up in a 'museum"... everything pristine! Gorgeous furniture, covered in plastic, waiting for company to come...they never came. I has received 2 Cabbage Patch Dolls the year they were popular. One for my 12th birthday and one for Christmas. Not only could I not open them, the boxes were wrapped in clear plastic! Ugh! It was a house but not a home. The last time my mom came to my home. I could see the look of disgust at how we popped on the sofa, and ate on it too. Her head nearly exploded when my kids put drinks on the coffee table w/o coasters! Let's not talk about when my dogs jumped up on the sofa. Thanks for sharing, your videos are Fantastic!

LOL... When my Mom passed away I had to clean out the house. The cushions on the livingroom couch turned to stone because nobody ever sat on it. We couldn't put footprints in the carpet in both the living room and our dining room. The carpet was so unused it crunched when you walked on it. All that non use and we just ended up tossing it all. I had no real memories of anything. On the flip side, my Mother's purse means the world to me. I have her used makeup, tissues, wallet and hair brush exactly as it was. It was so personal that now it's the best thing I own. Is it valuable.. heck yes, to me and that's all that counts.

@@ColorMyWorld Whew! You understand! If a robber robbed my home, he/she would open my "china" cabinet and be so disappointed with the "junk" and "crap" inside of it. There is not one piece of china in that china cabinet, but if my house was on fire, I would risk my life to get my children's first hand prints as my first Mother's Day "gift" and the tiny clay pot that has faded tulips that were made from choppy cut out hand prints scotch tapped to pipe cleaners. Total treasures to me! BTW...I just accidently came across your channel tonight. It was a suggested video as I was looking at videos for High School Marching Bands! I am an artist/crafter as well. But your "Mysteries of Prismacolor" caught my eye. I binged watched several videos tonight and I am definitely a new subbie! I can not wait to watch so more. I have learned a lot and will start applying what I have learned. Thanks again for sharing!

You have no idea what your comment about the dishes in your childhood did for me. I was one of the commenters about not wanting to use my books for fear of ruining them and that changed everything because life is way too short to feel that way. As always, amazing video!!

You cracked me up about not saving books to color in. I have the Serean book that I’ve not even taken out or the packing it was sent in lol🤫. I appreciate your steams. I’m an ooooooooold lady trying to learn new tricks. I never even knew until recently that people colored like this. I still color like a preschooler except don’t have the big fat crayons 🖍. What I can’t grasp at all is how do you know where to highlight? I just don’t get the whole lightning deal. It’s driving me crazy 😜 or maybe crazier fits better. Thanks for sharing all you do it’s appreciated.

Oh wow! Never thought of that for my electric eraser! It gets so out of control easily! The story about the dishes is the story of my family! The chinaware that is only used for Christmas... why? I’m trying to fight that. I only have 4 coloring books, I think that the only good quality is Johanna’s Christmas and I just received the 100 best grayscale coloring pages from Alena Lazareva, the paper is not the best, but I still made copies of the page I wanted to color. I need to practice

Love your electric eraser sharpening tip! I have two small "detail", refill pen style erasers, both labeled Tombow Mono Zero, one is a small round shape & one is a small rectangular shape. I love them, use them ALL the time for highlighting, detailing! I also have a small Tombow sand eraser which I found works wonders with getting thicker layers of wax pencil up or for making a misty/foggy background area (like around a moon). I agree about your comment on those "sacred" items. I use my goodies, instead of "saving" them, as my parents did. My mom still comments about that, but I tell her I can't use the stuff after I'm gone! I even dress up to go to doctor appts or other errands, nails done, lipstick & all, why not? ; )

Sacred books??? I disassemble them when I get them! Easy to do with sewn signatures but possible with glue block books. A heat gun helps to get the cover off intact. Then I can color on smaller surfaces w/o fighting the book.

love these tips as once one sees and understand how to get the effect it is wonderful !!!! ty Lori I also have a weird feeling about using my special dishes which I inherited from my family .They were a set which were one by one given by the theatre to attract opeople to come to the show at the movie pl,aces ..These dishes were needed by my mom's family of ten kids and her brotgher worked at the cinema and every week they gave out a plate or bowl etc .I adore them yet have to keep them on a pedestal since they come from more than eighty years ago . I am afraid to damage them lol.

We have a second set of dishes. I have had them since I was a child and they are very special to me because one set of Grandparents on my Mom's side gave them to my Father's Parents so they are from all my Grandparents. They are Turkey Plates. They are very brightly colored and the whole plate is a turkey. They aren't expensive but they are filled with really happy memories. All the kids got to eat off them when we were kids. Even the babies got one. So, my Children ate of them at Thanksgiving too. For me it's not price or what someone else puts a value on. It's memories that are associated with it.

Oh Von, my Husband hasn't found my new lighting system yet and it's huge. The box weighed like 45 pounds. It has lights, umbrellas, back drop etc. I don't know what I was thinking and I am still trying to convince myself that he is going to believe I have had it all along.

I remember the first time I used the dishes after my Mom passed away. I felt so guilty. When I put them in my dishwasher I could hear her turning in her grave. I don't use them for everyday of course. They are Lenox, but on all special holidays I do and I no longer feel guilty about the dishwasher.
