The way you do charting is very helpful!

Watching you use these pencils in your ‘skin tone’ series is a great way for your viewers to assess the hardness or softness of the different pencil brands. I loathe hard colored pencils. My favorite soft pencils are Prismacolor premier. My second faves are Polychromos, although they blend differently than Prismacolors. I’m watching you use the Luminance pencils and am very impressed. Good soft pencils with natural skin tones colors are hard to find. I will be getting those you’ve listed.

Hello Claire. I own all 100 on the Caran D’ache and I can confirm the Castle Earth is a shocking pencil. It’s literally the only pencil I will go out of my way not to use. It feels like it’s got way too much oil in the mixture. There’s no fibre to the lead. And the pigment never lays down cleanly. So, don’t worry your not the only one 🙁

Hi Clare...great skin combo's!!! Yes!!! got the same problem with cassel eart! I bougt two difrent ones from diffrent artstores to sea if it was just this one pencil... but the other ones do the same weard thing! I even wrote caran d' ache about it... but I think they fired the person who was handling my case😕...still need to hear back from them. But yes this colour performs scratchy indeed.

Yes! Cassel Earth color is strange. I used it for bark texture on a Johanna Basford artist edition book and it would not lay down color. I sharpened it, I used sand paper also to sharpen strategically and it did not work. This was over other luminance colors I laid down. It seemed to only glide over the color but had a scratchy feel. It’s a good idea to have it replaced. May try that to check a difference. I was never able to create those dark shadows with the pencil.

I sent my cassel earth pencil back to caran dache and they replaced it with one that works ok. It seems that a batch was faulty. Great video

Hello dear Claire, thank you these amazing Skin Tones Blends from Luminance 76 set, can't wait to use them and play with the colours, so.to speak. Mmmm yes Cassel Black did not want to lay down will let you know how I fair with mine when the arrive. I have been watching you Skintones Tutorials, and have bought Hanna Lyn's book to start my first ever Colouring With Claire tutorial 💖 so will look foward to start that very soon. Am midway studying my Psychology Lesson 6 Spiritual Effect of Psychology which is proving to be very intense and fascinating bless. So today is colouring day bless. Using my Lightfast & Prismas, mmmm yes I find all my prismas break or crumble when sharpened, so it will be a refreshing change to use Luminance bless. By the way hun, is your brush a wallpaper brush it looks really sturdy and covers most the page in one swipe with the brush, and clears the crumbs or dust away nicely no smudges either cool 😎 😀 🎨🖍☕☕

My cassel earth is the same as yours. It's a dud. I've read lots of reviews on these pencils and many others have commented that this pencil is a problem as well. Thank you for this very helpful video and for all that you do.

Caselll earth…it is kind of oogy. I avoid it
