This is the reveal of The 1970 Colt Python I had restored to mint condition. This video is the last in a series of every step in restoring this well ived gun back to its original perfect condition.

I just purchased the 2024 Colt Python Blued in May. Waiting to DROS and picking up in late June of this month. I live in the crap state of California. Your restoration looks outstanding. Great job, it looks amazing. Did not follow the project, but this look just out of this world. I have refinished a few guns even re bluing and I know how much work it is behind. I totally agree with you, people think a gun should never be refinished, personally, I LOVE a correct restored gun. Great job.

Turned out amazing! I thought it'd turn out well based on watching Rusty's restoration of a Colt Trooper but didn't know it would be that stunning. Great job, fellas! Would love to know what he'd charge for a Python restoration like this (assuming no parts are needed, just a restored finish). I might actually consider having Rusty (I'm assuming that's his name) do some gunsmithing for me, including a finish restoration on my well-used Python. I'm like you; I don't own safe queens. Even the guns I have that others might consider as safe queens are not safe queens. For example, I have an immaculate S&W model 29-2 that is literally 99% condition. Even its turn line is extremely faint. But, I still get it to the range a few times a year to enjoy it. (It'd be more often, but I have a lot of guns to enjoy, LOL.) Anyway, congrats again on an amazing job. I'm sure your friend will be ecstatic. If not, she can sell it to me. :) Cheers!

Turned out NICE. I laughed recently watching another video. Guy was handling a matte(not brushed but almost bead blast looking matte) stainless smith or Taurus with white gloves on.

I keep looking for the "how to" prep and reblue older Colts and Smiths to match the 1970's era Colt and Smith & Wesson bluing processes. There are any number of us of who gear up and refinish an old friend ourselves once someone shares their "how to" with sufficient detail.. You show it can be done, and done well. Thank You, I will check out "Rusty Restorations"

Turned out beautifully. Colt still does offer a royal blue finish on a couple of their 1911s. You can even send your gun in and pay around 400 dollars to have the royal blue job done. Whether or not they changed the chemical process, I am unsure.

@@TerryBenton It came out awesome. Also assuming Colt knows there is a demand for blued snake guns, which means they would have to use carbon steel instead of stainless. So they are probably dragging their feet on it.

@Colin J I think.it is in the works. I am sure they are going to figure out how to stream line it like they did the stainless guns. I do not know this for a fact but I would be willing to bet they are working on it

@@TerryBenton If they aren't, they're missing out on a serious cash cow. If there is a way to profit on a new generation blued Python, they'd be foolish not to do it. It simply *has* to be in development (hopefully closer to production!), you know? They'd outsell the stainless version by far, in my opinion, and they sold a TON of those.

Fwiw, I own one of the new Pythons and one of the new Anacondas and they are awesome, especially the Anaconda. What an amazing .44 magnum handgun. Well, once I put Wilson Combat sights on it, anyway, LOL

It looks absolutely GORGEOUS! I’m actually planning on picking up a newer Python soon. Would you be able to receive it once I acquire to give it the same treatment? If so how much would do or your local smith charge for it? Oh boy bluing a new Python fresh out the box how taboo!!! The value of it will tank!!

How is a royal blue finish done? I’ve been searching everywhere but no luck, is it mirror polished first, then cold/hot blued? Any advice 🙏🏻

It is a hot blue. My gunsmith does it. I am not an expert on the actual process. He uses Cyanide.

What would u use on that pistol to keep it shining ? Just a wax or is there something special blued guns use ?

I just wipe them down with a silicone cloth. I buy the Wilson Combst ones but I think any of them do the same thing

Such question. I have seen many mint untouched exellent finishes of Pythons on Gun Internationel web site. And these revolvers can be from 1971, 1973. Is it possible to have them being so old look like yours on video? Or the owners restore them and then sell them and say they are mint, no cylinder line, unfired, unused and so on?

Either is possible. There are alot of dishonest folks in this world that are looking to profit odd of unsuspecting people. It sickens me. Do not trust anyone amd over pay for something. I hope this helps.

@@morriszachrisson8359 it would be very hard to tell this one has been refinished. You have to look at the roll marks under magnification. Etc. Very hard

It's ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS STUNNING BEAUTIFUL, PREFECT, I LOVE THE BLUE FINISH MORE THAN ANY OTHER. People that say it can't be done don't know how too, to start with, it starts with the prep perfectly polished before the blueing process . When done correctly it looks like Deep blue blk chrome, in the sun light it looks even better , brings out the Deep blue almost translucent look🤪 WOW. So much more beautiful than just polished Stainless steel. OUTSTANDING CRAFTSMANSHIP SO BEAUTIFUL BUDDY 🤠❤️❤️❤️
