I have a theory about where this song was shot I think this was completely shot in some coastal part of India (possibly Pondicherry). Some of the giveaways for me - 3:39 Red brick walls, although not unusual in the US, it's very likely to be found in India - 4:37 The Venice beach signage, wooden houses. Also black/white stripes on the sidewalk are typical of how sidewalks are painted in India And of course assuming that it was cheaper to fly in people than filming at the real location. Nevertheless, the scenes that appear before and after this song are actually shot in the US and beautifully maintains that continuity. I loved your commentary about quality of music and the sound!
