Most of what you wrote is, objectively, indisputable. Your opinion is cogent and made even more persuasive by the fact that your favorite team is an archrival in World Cup, yet you would root for Argentina because of the magnificence of the "little man", as many a Brit analyst has called him, with admiration (and perhaps even affection). I do not have a favorite team...I have followed whichever team he was on. So many indelible memories! I think my admiration for him is amplified by the fact that his diminutive stature (5'8"?), relative to virtually every other player, required a dribbling skill and football IQ level higher than all previous stars. For every tremendously skillful goal, mind-boggling assist and delicious deke or nutmeg and the fact that he has taken (and mainly Barcelona, when he was there, as a team) Cryuff's ideal of "the beautiful game" to it's Parnassus, all mainly on the turf of the pitch, he should have been recognized as the greatest ever, even before winning the Cup.

@@Magisterial. what destroys me is apparently had an offer from inter milan, but he was so stressed from the situation in 2021,the disgraceful treatmen in p*ris and how barca played with his feelings again this year, he just wanted to get far away from it all😡😔. i hope he finds the peace and joy again that he seeks in miami, and i know the scaloneta will treat him good. it‘s amazing that one man could keep this level of skill and motivation for 20 years in the first place. it‘s mindboggling.nobody can imagine what it’s like to be him. i‘ve made my peace with his decision and i‘ll continue to follow him he deserves at least the same amount of happiness he gave people for so many years(which is immeasurable really). i can never pay that back
