I thought I'd change things up from my usual sewing videos and give you an insight into the adventures that led to these thrifted pieces making their way into my life! ✨
I love a good getaway in the van and discovering cute old country towns, turning the phone to flight mode and exploring the natural beauty of Australia. In this, my partner and I escape inland for a few days (including Warwick, Stanthorpe, Girraween National Park, Queen Mary Falls & Mt Barney) where we found epic op shops, insane rock formations, waterfalls, swimming holes and just all round bliss.
Then I share an overview of the pre-loved goodies found along the way and tips on how I transformed some of these pieces into more wearable essentials to add into the wardrobe!

i love the idea of keeping the original length of the white cardigan to use as pockets!! i have a white embroidered jacket that i've been wanting to shorten but i was worried about cutting through the embroidery, now i know that i can just fold it up! thank you for the idea :)

I wish I could road trip but my island is only 21 miles and it take me maybe an hour or less to get from one point to the next! I guess my alternative is boating around the islands here in The Bahamas though! I did enjoy this format - a nice change or scenery!

Your videos make me find the joy in sewing again because I can get too caught up in doing everything exactly "by the book" and that mindset just stunts creativity for me, but I love how you just do what works and the end result is not only amazing and functional but also sustainable. For me it is easiest to baste the area of the seam & the Rest zog the seam normally - don’t for get to secure your seam in between - lay the zipper on top of the basted area sew around it & lastly seam rip over the zipper. But the draw back is you need to be very careful when seam ripping - so it is a question of preference. Love this style of video!

I loved watching the video!!! It's so unique, I've never seen something like this before! (Maybe if you are filming something like this again, you can even put the thrift flips between the clips of the trip, at the parts where you also buy them.)

Those aerial shots you got of your hikes were so gorgeous!! Also thank you so much for showing how you did that "frame" technique for the zipper placement on the skirt and top - my zippers always come out wonky (especially figuring out how to hide the bottom part of the zipper without it bunching up the fabric). The draping from the two sides of ruched fabric is so lovely on the oldies party dress! Separately, do you have any suggestions for when you feel like you're in a sewing rut?
